December's Mod of the Month:
IguanaGrrl!

Interview given by plutogenic -

What is your given name?: Jessica I. Friesen

Age?: 27

But how old do people say you LOOK like?: Anywhere from 18-24

Where do you currently reside?: Sacramento, CA

Nationality?: I'm a Heinz 57 european mutt, a.k.a. caucasian.

When and why did you start expressing an interest in DDR?: My very first time was at the Circus Circus arcade in Las Vegas. I was at the 25th Anniversary Rocky Horror convention (with skie of Orange Lounge Radio) and we found DDR. We randomly tried it and fell in love instantly because of the whole music/dancing aspect (we're stage whores, what do you expect?) This was in October 2000. It wasn't until December 2000 that we finally found a local machine, the USA machine at Roseville Golfland. I was there at least 6 nights/week for quite awhile after that. :P

Favorite DDR song? Bemani song?: DDR - "Standing Still in Time" from Ultramix 2. Bemani - Still has to be "Sync" from Beatmania IIDX (not that cruddy DDR version)

Favourite Bemani game?: Beatmania IIDX, though I rarely have the time to play anymore. :(

What itch does DDR scratch that nothing else could? At the time, it was an extremely fun way to get me to do the cardio I needed. I lost 30 pounds over the first few months of playing (which unfortunately came crawling back after I stopped playing regularly).

Describe your first DDR-related sexual experience: Umm... Islander! :P I met Islander through DDR, we became friends and about two and a half years ago, we became more than friends and are still going strong.

How long have you been a moderator?: I've been a moderator since August 2001, before we changed to the current phpBB board.

Do you enjoy being an Admin? What keeps you from going postal on all of us DDRFreakians?: I really do enjoy being an admin, but it can be an utter pain in the booty as well at times. I absolutely love the site and the community and I'm glad that I'm able to contribute in some way. I've also grown a fairly tough skin over the years and have learned to separate my friendships from board business, which really helps me to keep my head up when things get rough.

When you are not thinking about/playing DDR, what do you do with those leftover two hours out of your day?: Heh. I work a minimum of 40 hours/week and go to school 10-20 hours/week on top of that (not to mention my DDR Freak work and trying to maintain a long term relationship.) When I'm not doing all of that (or homework), I like to watch movies a LOT. I have an online movie account, so I constantly have movies coming and going.

You've recently been doing some self-work. You look great! How has this experience changed your outlook on life? How do you feel?: Thanks! To explain a bit for those who don't know, I've had a weight problem essentially my entire life. I've also had thyroid issues a good portion of that time that went untreated. In the past year, I have started thyroid medication to speed up my thyroid and have been working out and dieting like mad. My most recent weight loss tool is a low carb lacto-ovo-pesco vegetarian diet (I've been a vegetarian for over 10 years). It's working fabulously for me, as I've lost 40 pounds so far. :)

I feel incredibly empowered by the entire experience. I don't feel like my weight situation is hopeless anymore. I know I still have a long way to go (another 80 pounds or so), but I finally feel like I have the tools to beat the weight now. The encouragement from my friends REALLY helps, too. :)

Edible panties, Yay or nay? (Discuss): Nay. I'm sure they use plenty of sugar to make those and that's off the diet. :P Sticky skin just isn't fun, you know?

Tell the world an embarassing drinking story: I'm a wrestling fan (I love the crappy storylines and the athleticism). One year, we invited friends to watch Wrestlemania at our house. As the Ric Flair match was about to start, we did a drinking game - every time he says 'Woo!', we had to drink. My friend chose tequila and insisted on shots with each 'Woo!' while I was drinking a mixed drink and sipping.

After about 13-14 'Woo!'s, he spent the rest of the night puking around the house. :X

Where do you derive your sexual deviance from?: I blame Rocky Horror for my sexual deviance. I was young and impressionable and it gave me the chance to yell obscenities and hit on people. :)

Favourite movie, food, and book. GO!: Movie - Pretty in Pink, Food - Philadelphia Rolls, Book - I don't ever have the time to read outside of school stuff. :(

Have you met anyone from DDR Freak in real life? Who would you LIKE to meet?: Oh jeez, I've met TONS of people from the site in real life. Between various Northern California tournaments and E3 and such, I've probably met 150-200 people from DDR Freak. I would really like to meet all of the moderators that I haven't yet.

Your life is being made into a movie. Name the actors that portray you and people in your life: I think the only person who would portray me would be Christina Ricci - we have the same face and boobs (though I've heard something about her getting a boob reduction). I guess Islander would be Dante Basco, since he loves the guy. :P DarkSakura (my wifeypoo and best friend) would have to be someone like the girl in the Harry Potter movies. :)

Are you the coolest woman alive? (Be honest): Not by any stretch of the imagination. I'm cool, don't get me wrong, but I'm too much of a mom to be the coolest woman alive. :P

What do you do for a living? Do you enjoy it?: I am the Administration Specialist/Network Technician for a gourmet dessert company. Basically, I do far too much work for far too little money. It's a fun job, though. It keeps me on my toes, but major gift giving holidays (like Valentine's) are a pain in the booty.

Do you travel often? If so where is your favourite place to visit?: I used to travel for work, but I never got much of a chance to see the places I went because they wouldn't let me have a rental car. :( My favorite vacation destination, though, is Florida.

Could superman outrun the flash?: No, but maybe he could have outwheeled him when he was still alive. :X

Could JESUS outrun the flash?: I doubt it, Jesus is too busy walking on water to get any land training.

Sex, Drugs, or Rock n Roll?: Rock n Roll for me, please! :)

Do you have any musical talent? If so what instrument do you play?: I played piano and trombone both for many years (14ish and 15ish respectively). I also sing fairly decently. There is an mp3 out there of me singing or you could listen to the December 10th Orange Lounge Radio Rewind on DDR Freak Radio (6pm) if you want to hear me sing. :)

What taste is in your mouth right now?: Diet coke! YUM!

Why am I (plutogenic) so gorgeous?: Umm... because you're not afraid to be yourself. That's an important quality that too many people take for granted.

If you won one hundred million dollars, what would be the FIRST thing you would buy without batting an eye?: A house, because I'm REALLY tired of paying rent without having a future value to my money.
