stepmania alpha5 crashes my whole computer plz help

heres a description of it

anywhere in stepmania (menu, song selection, during game, etc.) the game, and my computer will just stop, but the music will play until the end.
after that, its just a screen sitting there. has anyone else had this problem?

You should try downloading the newest hardware and/or software drivers. You divx codec might be old. Just a thought.
