Hello Everyone....

I'm currrently playing GF4th/DM3rd on the PS2.
For those who have played the game, when you eneter the options menu under controller setting. There is a Drum (USB) option and inside there are 2 compatible Yamaha Electronic Drumsets to choose from.
I know which is DD series drum kits (DD-55) but I'm interested in the DTX series drumkits that are compatible.
There are a few DTXpressII Complete Electronic Drumkits that are currently selling at ebay.com quite cheaply (for a proffesional drum kit) and I'm wondering if this is compatible.
Anyone out there have any info on this??
Thank you for reading.

I'm not sure about the PS2 versions of GF/DM, but there is a PC DM sim designed especially for the DTX drum set. It's called DTXMania, IIRC.

I'm not sure about the DTXressII but I own a DTXress (I I assume) and it would great with DM3rd. it doesn't work with any of the other PS2 mixes though. You'll need to get a midi to usb converter, the right one is in the manual. It's the yamaha DX-16 midi->usb converter. It cost me $50. Also the DTXress kits don't come with a bass drum petal (they come with the sensor, but not the foot petal.) That also cost me another $50.

The DTXress kit is a great kit. I've had some fairly good drummers say it's good to play on, if you're interested in real drums. The drum pads are the ones used in the arcade, so it will be very close to the arcade expereince.

yeah, the DTXPress is compatible. When it comes down to it, it's not so much the kit that's compatible as it is the brain (the computer that outputs the midi data). It is basically an arcade style Drummania controller, but due to the fact that they cost $500 and up, and a new Drummania/Guitar Freaks is still in the works with no released date even announced, I'd say save your money until another one comes out so you don't have a $1000 drum set taking up space in your house and not getting used.

EDIT: Sorry, but I'd been really wondering and this was my first chance to really get that question in^_^;;;;

Okay, well you didn't say anything (did you?) or if ya did, it was short notice. Thanks for the reply. In the future I shall PM you...yes that would work.

now now, let's stay on topic and not get this thread locked. It my be useful later. Anyways to answer your question quickly, We had some HARDCORE server problems and instead of putting everything back up when the server's fixed, we're gonna completely redo the site. Expect it to all be fine and dandy again within the next couple weeks.

Now back to the DXTPress questions.

Thank you for all you guys' replies.

About the new GF/DM game in the works....is it on the PS2??
Man, I'm really addicted to this game.
It's the only game that I've played that makes me wanna play the real drums.
DDR doesn't make me wanna be a dancer, BM doesn't make me wanna try the real DJ-ing stuff and GF doesn't make me wanna be a guitarist.
But don't get me wrong, all the games are FUN to play.
But Drummania's the BEST IMHO... E4.gif

Hi,
I think so, too.
IMO DM is the most realistic of all the Bemani-Games, but the others are also a great fun!!!

Yeah, I'd say DM and Keyboardmania are tied for "most realistic." Of course, the level of realism also depends on the song you're playing, and at what difficulty level.

Though some might argue that Para Para Paradise is the most realistic of them all, when played "properly." ;-)

Or, you could get a cheaper drumset, like the Hart Dynamics Prodigy set with Alesis D5, and hook it up to your PC. Then, you could play DTXMania, with the ability to have every Drummania song ever made, plus a buttload of custom songs ("Emerald Sword"'s a great one), not to mention that you'd be able to play drums "for real" when you're not playing Drummania/DTXMania/whatever.

Hey...that's a super great idea....
The Harts Prodigy Electronic Drumkit is the cheapest out there. Too bad it doesn't include the DM5 Module. Have to buy it separately.
Can the Alesis Module communicate with the DTXMania Software on the PC?? E19.gif
I thought the software is only meant for DTXpress Module...

Hehehe...I'm not sure how to quote Shinmizu's post...

Hell, I use an old KAT midiK.I.T.I. made sometime in the 1980's... it works with DTXMania just fine and dandy.

It (DTXMania) works with MIDI, which is a pretty darn solid standard, so it's likely to work with anything that's MIDI-compatible, such as my midiK.I.T.I., a DTXPress, Alesis D5, etc.

Just set whatever you're using to control the drums to send the correct signal through the MIDI cable to the PC (like 028 for the Snare, etc.), or you can just edit the DTXMania.ini file to tell it to fire the snare, etc. for whatever signal you want.

Heh, you could even map the floor tom to the bass drum to tackle those nasty 16th/32nd bass rolls that are in some of those wacky custom songs floating around. (Or, you could just buy a double bass pedal).

My favorite aspect of DTXMania is that DTX files have support for the floor tom, second cymbal, and a hihat pedal. The Least 100 Sec as a full DTX song is just insane.

EDIT: Not to mention, my home system is a hell of a lot more sensitive than any arcade system I've played on. Plus, I can adjust the space between the hihat and snare to be enough for easy crosshanded play.. it makes stuff like Children's Sketchbook a LOT easier.

Ahhh....now that clears up alot of questions that are floating in my mind.
A million thanks to Shinmizu.
Now I can go search for a cheap Hart Dynamics Prodigy Drumkit with a module included...I guess that's the cheapest currently.
Anyone out there have any recommendations??
