It was extremely off sync before Konami patched DDR SuperNova, but now it's actually quite fun in my opinion.
I guess people probably don't like it because of the step chart. _________________

I tried watching a few youtube videos of it played, I figured the off synch-ness was due to a bad upload.
And yes, the stepchart does seem a bit intimidating. I think I'll stick with CURUS _________________

Just as I expected.
In order to come into the Las Vegas Gameworks without being surprised. You have to set your standards bar low. Like low enough that it'll hit a limbo dancers clit ring.
The website, registration email. EVERYTHING said to show up early for 9 AM registration. I get there and meet one of the employees and asked about the registration. To which he explained, they open at 10.
Wait. Open at 10? Registration at 10. Conundrum much?
I rush out of my house, only to be waiting at the entrance for half an hour. Thatnks, douchebags. Way to have your OWN EVENT ORGANIZED.
I believe the other 25 people waiting would agree with me here.
It gets better. Well, kind of. The Konami staff ran everything smoothly, as best they could. We didn't even get through the qualifiers and the pad had to be fixed THREE TIMES.
I remember saying in a few posts that Gameworks is the WORST place in Vegas to play DDR, and it's basically the Bemani laughing stock. This is why.
THREE fixes in a couple hours means your machine is DICKED!
Players were even telling the Gameworks staff that the pad was messed up and telling them what was wrong in explicit detail (2P up arrow was jacked, and I heard something was up with the 1P pad, and the volume was nonexistant).
Only to find out that nothing was done. It's not like there's a scheduled tournament the NEXT DAY.
The event took forever to get started, so a bunch of us made some test runs on the Extreme cabinet (which was dimly lit, no unlocks, and the pads were MUCH MUCH worse).
I just wish the Konami staff would have quit announcing 'WE'RE HAVING THE FINALS IN VEGAS!!!!!'.
Not even 5 minutes later, they're announcing that they will only have 1 person go on the pad at a time because the 2P side was fubar.
(They also said they they're not going to fix the pad all day to accomidate everyones personnal pad sensitivity preferences...which was funny because I think the bare minimum should be the UP ARROW WORKING!)
I'm pretty sure I got beat in the qualifier, I saw a lot of AA's and I left (I got an 87-something/A on I'm For Real...Thanks, So-Cal transplants). I couldn't stand the buffonery Gameworks provides for their customers, overpriced...everything.
The only thing I got out of this visit was me dumping about 8 bucks into the 2Spicy machine. At least that machine works...then again, it's newer and probably hasn't been touched by the Gameworks staff...thank god!
I could only count 3 people from Vegas there. There were A TON of So-Cal transplants. Awesome group of people. Glad I got my buttocks kicked by them.
Tip-Of-The-Hat to So Cal...whon probably took 1st place
Tip-Of-The-Hat to the Konami staff for doing their best to make Las Vegas Gameworks not look like a bunch of tards.
And a Wag-Of-My-Finger to Gameworks for the cracker-jack staff at Gameworks not listening to their customers, keeping up with their maintenance, and being one of the most disorganized entertainment businesses out there. For a down-economy, you guys are BALLSY and I'm surprised that the Gameworks hasn't been converted to an extension of the MGM Casino.
If anyone is curious, I was the only one playing doubles on the Extreme cabinet _________________

Sounds like Vegas Gameworks. It is just hard finding any quality machines on the strip. I think my last visit proved that the best machine I could find was a DDR USA in the Luxor's Arcade. Other than that you are bound to find at least one bad pad on each machine. No wait there was a DDR SuperNOVA in the Bally's Arcade last time that wasn't so bad. But that has been a few years ago.
I just really hope Konami has learned their lesson with Gameworks this time and hope that they make use of a more reliable arcade chain in the event we are treated to another national event. _________________
