You've seen "generic" foam pads in stores? Lucky you! The only ones I've seen are the gamestop flat (konami bundled with game type) pads - and those are pretty icky.
TBH, buying ANY pad anymore is a crapshoot. You could spend $30 on a generic vortz-type foam pad and have it last 6 months or you could spend $80 on something like the 2008 version mmb blueshark dense foam pad and have it die in a month (happened to me).
The real RO Ignition 3.0 I have read way too many bad things about, I will say that.
I wish I had a better answer for you. The only positive I can think of is, the pads you're finding in stores? if they come with even a 30 day guarantee or warranty, at least if it did break in that time, you could get a replacement or refund.
