What kind of spring mechanism is used for the spring that separates the arrow contacts in a hard pad? Is the spring integrated with the sensor? Is the spring from the top plate for the arrow? None of the above?

There aren't any springs in arcade or most hard pads pads. The sensors in arcade pads are a rubbery pressure sensor that completes a circuit when enough pressure is applied to it. Home hard pads usually use a weatherstripping, mousepad, or something else depending on the design.
