I've got a Red Octane Afterburner that I want to use with Stepmania, but I don't have the USB connector that's supposed to come with it. The PS2 cord works fine though, so I'm looking for a PS2>USB adapter.

Is there any way I can order the cord I'm missing from Red Octane though? I figure no, since they seem to have poopy customer service, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Or is there any way this will be available again soon?

I was told maybe a PS2>Xbox 360 USB adapter might work better than just regular USB...is this true? Do they even make these?

If my above questions are all pointless drivel, then what is the best adapter for me to get (least lag) that's not horribly expensive.

Thanks for your help.

I bought 2 of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/3in1-Controller-Converter-PS2-XBOX-Game-Cube-to-PC-USB_W0QQitemZ350058571878QQihZ022QQcategoryZ139969QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
they work very well. According to the compatibility chart on stepmania's website, it's the only gamecube adapter that works 100% (that they tested). Also, apparently, you can use all 3 ports at the same time (which I wish I had known before buying 2) ~_~

There is one such product, the XFPS 360. You won't find them for less than $60.

That's a little too much for me. Thanks for telling about it though.

The thing stuffmonger brought up sounds pretty good, and affordable enough.

theres a way to take an xbox controller end and make it USB, assuming you dont mind stipping a few wires and using some electrical tape and have both a USB cord end and a xbox controller end to sacrafice. Then after that you just download a driver and it works. i dont remember what its called, but does anyone else know if it works for DDR pads and what the drivers are called? The site had a video on how to make it work.

Probably not going to be worth it because:
A) Don't have a regular Xbox or corresponding controllers
B) It'd probably cost me more or the same as the adapter to buy one
C) My Afterburner came with the Xbox cord, and since I don't have an Xbox anyway, I don't need the ability to use my pad on one.

The Red Octane PS2 - USB adapter works great if you can find it (I haven't had any problems with mine). I'm also looking for an adapter so I can do doubles with Stepmania--I'm just deciding if I want to invest in another PS2 pad for consistency or use the GC pad I already have and look at a different converter.

just use the xbox controller end connecter deal to make one then. Adapters are annoying to obtain now that lik-sang isn't around. Man, i sure do miss lik-sang. Smartjoy adapters were the best adapters you could find for the money, the offbrand ones always seemed to have a lot of problems.

not sure about how good this site is(looks a little shady, lol), but i know the EMS USB adapters are great. I can't comfirm if they work with afterburners or not, but i do know they work great with the cobalt flux, so chances are you'll be fine.
