Correct me if I am wrong but, wouldn't it be cool if they (whoever created the game PUI and Konami) made a game utilizing all 9 Pannels? A combined force capable of ruling the universe (or mabey just the dance simulation universe)

...And also made it double or versus?

...Oh, oh, and instead of making a second mix come back, a "Dancin' music festival it up" come back with 1...2...13 pannels.

...then in challenging mode, you have to drum with one hand and play Dance Freak/Dance Maniac (whatever they call it now days) with the other

(No, no alchol, no crack and definatly no caffieene...I mean steroids)

well i dont know if that would be possible but i have heard of a mode called
"Max Mode" which uses the solo panels and also there are like 2 more panels
which basically are mirrors of the solo panels but on the lower side of the
pad making use of 8 arrows.

Technomotion had 9 panels. Don't think it was very successful. And considering Andamiro and Konami were suing each other over their games when they came out I doubt they would ever work together.

Can you imagine how frustrating maintenance of something like that would be?

Technomotion kinda sucked, though.

For further inspiration, look to Pop'N Stage. I believe that is also a 9 panel game.

The only way this would be possible is to make a circle of arrows and have them "float up" like in MC Groovz Dance Craze. The arrows are ****ing impossible to read in that game though.

The closest we've come to a game like that is Technomotion, which Synaethesia already mentioned. However, despite the fact that the game has 9 panels, there is no mode that uses all 9 of them simultaneously. You can play 4-panel DDR style, 5-panel PIU style, or 8-panel style, which uses all the panels except the middle one IIRC. Then on double mode, it's either 8-panel or 10-panel, no 16-panel. Wikipedia backs me up here, but it could be wrong, too. Anyway, I also remember hearing that most of the people who worked on Technomotion somehow ended up at Andamiro and are now working on PIU, so I think the series and the idea is pretty much dead.

Razma mentioned Pop'N Stage. Pop'N stage is indeed also 9 panels, but that game is also dead. You can see pictures of the cabinet and a couple screenshots here. Looks interesting to me, but I've only seen them in pictures of Japanese arcades, and that was a long time ago.
