ITG Crossover Help

I started playing ITG very recently after a good deal of time playing DDR, and I had always thought of myself as very good at crossovers (I always found EE, R&P, CSFIL:SM and such to be among the easier 9s). However, I have come across much more complex crossover patterns in ITG, and in particular this new "180 crossover" where you end up with your left foot on the right arrow and vice-versa; it became clear to me that I needed to improve my crossover skills after Oasis Ex handed my backside to me, even though I find the rhythms themseleves fairly simple.

As a fairly new ITG player, I have very little concept of what songs feature what kinds of steps, so the primary question is what are examples of good songs to practice these strange new patterns on? Also, if you are up to it, what are some of the other songs with complex and longer streams of crossovers (by complex I mean steps other than the classic L,D,R,D,L or the four primary variations thereof)?

Bend Your Mind easy is a great way to practice. It has complex turns in a hold run at the end, but it's nice and slow... something like quarter notes, or maybe even half notes, I don't exactly remember.

Also, remember Afronova on DDR? That has a run near the beginning of LDRLURLDRLUR turns... I think. Anyway, if you turn your way through that, you wind up with your left foot on right and your right foot on left. ITG turns, like LDRLRDL are the same thing, but you stop halfway and go back. It's really not that hard once you get used to it.

Bouff EX doesn't have holds during the runs, but it has a few parts where you have to do three-quarter spins to turn the steps. Stuff like LURDRUL, starting with your left foot. Tricky, but definitely doable once you get used to it.

I've always thought of those kinds of steps as Bend Your Mind steps, however, a lot of my friends call them Mobius Freezes, because of the pattern in Disconnected Mobius Expert. The center of Queen Of Light expert has them as well (1/8th notes with the occasional trio of 1/16ths). If you don't want to deal with the hands and/or mines, just turn them off and play it

BTW, if you're a doubles player: Solina Hard Doubles. Those steps are in there as well, and I find them VERY fun. Just have faith that everything will resolve.

I'll ask my friends when I get the chance and see if any of them can think of others.

Songs that have these "Freeze Crossovers" from the top of my head:

- Dawn Expert
- Disconnected Mobius Expert
- Bloodrush Expert
- Funk Factory Expert
- Queen of Light Expert
- Bend Your Mind (any)
- Any song with an insane amount of Holds

Those steps are one of the things I love about ITG. Once you master them, you can go back to DDR and realize that you were double stepping where you didn't have to (Breakdown has alot of those steps, but not with freezes). Your best bet at practicing them is Oasis slowed down (got home version/stepmania?). The bend your mind series is good too.

I too was having problems with crossovers, after migrating to ITG. Songs like Brilliant 2U (Orchestra Mix) Oni were some of the most "crossovery" ones I had encountered in DDR. I've found that songs like Funk Factory EX, Queen of Light EX, Disconnected Mobius EX, and Bend Your Mind EX are really good ones to start on (considering that 9's and 10's are within your ability).
