Alright, my friend just told me that I could get a mini as he has one and his ALWAYS works.

I'm getting the SanDisk Cruzer Mini USB Flash Drive then. It seems god to me too, 512mb/USB 2.0 for $60. w00t, and the CompUSA has it in stock. >biggrin.gif Time to get it tomorrow and play some ITG tomorrow after school before I go to work! :] Fun.

sorry for the stupidest question in the world but I think I remember player ITG at the arcade in Hershey Park and it had 5 panels with on in the center and 4 on the corners of the pad? Is that what this is?

I think you mean Pop'n Stage or Pump It Up.

I don't think it is a Pop n Stage... it'd be impossible to find one of those in an arcade in America.... was it even popular in Japan?

The 5-panel (diagonals and center) is Pump It Up. ITG pads are the same 4-arrow layout as DDR (and, until the new cases come out, *are* ex-DDR pads).

Well, my sister and I tried In The Groove at the arcade over spring break, along with Pump It Up. This jargon's about ITG, so don't jump all over me. E15.gif

Honestly, for a cheap-looking knockoff of DDR, I was pleasantly surprised. I had already tried Pump It Up and wasn't too thrilled with it, so I didn't have high expectations for ITG. Boy was I wrong. In The Groove might be the best copycat "DDR" I've played. At least I didn't have to spend a few credits learning the pad, it's pretty much standard DDR. The interface works really well, reminds me of Stepmania, only better. So many arrow options, it's ridiculous. Easy to navigate (hooray for select buttons on the front!), unlike PIU. The pad I played on registered really well, although I had a few dropped holds. The songs were overall pretty good, if not a bit lacking in variety, but with only 40 songs I guess the few musical genres I did see were represented pretty well. At least some of the artists I knew from DDR were on there (namely, Missing Heart and E-Rotic! W00t!). Also noticed Tough Enough by Vanilla Ninja from Ultramix 2 fame on there. laugh.gif Speaking of UM2, the songwheel looks somewhat similar to that game, which I liked. We played 3 versus games (9 songs total), and played mostly on Hard, some Medium (wasn't feeling too good that day, plus I noticed a lot of these songs are longer than DDR's are). The steps were for the most part really good, and matched up the music pretty well (LOLLerZ at Lemmings On The Run's steps). The highlight, though, was when we tried Anubis on Hard. I don't think I've ever played a song in any other dancing game where the steps matched up the music as perfectly as it did. Kudos to whoever your stepchart creators are, Roxor. Really good stuff. E13.gif E7.gif I also like the scoring system that shows the percentage of a song that you've Fantastic comboed, in addition to showing you how many steps/jump/holds/mines are in the song on the songwheel as well as how many you got when you completed the song. About my only complaint were the mines in songs; I thought those were too gimmicky, but at least you can turn those off, so that's a good thing. I also thought the graphics were too bland compared to DDR, but hey, it's still 4 arrows and a pad, and as long as that works, I'm happy. E4.gif

I'm actually pretty excited there's going to be a home version of this coming out soon. ALL of the songs from the arcade (what a concept!) plus several more. I just wonder if the Konami softpads will work with this game. I have an Ignition 2.0 Dual Platform Edition, but it's sticking pretty badly on the up arrow, and I'd rather not pay another 100 bucks for another one. Other than that, good job on your first attempt at a music game, Roxor. Looking forward to ITG2. biggrin.gif E7.gif

w00t. I played lots of ITG and my USB works awesomely. >=D

What are the criteria to get each of the stars? Does it vary depending on song/difficulty? The only thing I know of is:

**** = 100%
*** = 99%
** = ?
* = 96+% (?)

DancingDemonRaver, there aren't 40 songs in ITG1...try more like 72. also, tough enough was licensed to ITG before it was licensed to UM2 I believe. on the subject of mines...the best way to adjust is to just go ahead and dive into them. after awhile you start to appreciate that they force you to do certain moves a certain way. on the subject of pads, redoctane is selling a bundle for ITG that includes an ignition, so I would assume any 3rd party as well as official konami pads will work fine.

St00pidBaka, I believe it goes like this:

96%-97.99%=*
98%-98.99%=**
99%-99.99%=***
100%=****

Well, I stand corrected. I went to itgfreak.com's site to confirm this, and sure enough, there's 72 songs in total, 61 default, 11 unlocks. I was under the impression that that list was for the home version and not the arcade, stupid me. Although I could've sworn there were a lot fewer songs on the machine I played. The machine could've been not fully unlocked, and judging from the high scores table with lots of blanks, it looked almost brand spanking new, but Anubis was on there, so maybe I just felt so bad that day that the songwheel's appearance just messed with me. riiight.gif

Yeah, that's what I've heard from people in the know. I just thought it interesting that the same licensed song would be on two different dance games made by two different companies (albeit with different steps). I haven't played the ITG version just yet, I'll try it if I get any free time between now and home version's release. Work+college=sad panda. frown.gif

I thought there were 71 on ItG. 60 selectable, 10 unlocks, and 1 marathon-only? :S

(And supposedly, for the home version, that'll be 60 selectable and 15 unlockable)

Technical timing of license aside, I wanted to add to this... both of these games are in pre-production for many months before the actual product is out. Probably neither development team knew the other one had licensed it. More exposure for Vanilla Ninja, who I'm sure not many of us had heard of before these games, so what do they care E10.gif

I have a question, and I've looked around a bit to see if there is an answer posted anywhere, but I don't think I saw one. I looked in the USB Memory Card FAQ on ITG Freak, but it mostly discussed edits, etc. But here's my question:
How does the USB Memory Stick (when plugged into the ITG Machine) work when saving scores/screenshots? What do I need to do in order to save my scores to my Stick? I would really like to keep track of my ITG Scores in hopes of maybe creating some Groovestats (and show them off once I can play Expert). Thanks for the help.

All you have to do is have a compatible thumb drive and stick it into the usb ports. ITG will make all the data for you, and when you get home you can edit your editable.ini for your stats
Editable.ini wrote:

[Editable]
DisplayName=~Caffyness~
LastUsedHighScoreName=CAFY
WeightPounds=160

11 character max for the display name, 4 for the High scores, and weight just helps it calculate calories you're burning. It also creates a screenshots folder when you take one E1.gif

so i can bring in a brand new card (completely unused anywhere before), play, and then itll be fine when i get home with scores and screenshots?
also, how do i edit the .ini file? do i need a program or can i use notepad?

You just stick it in provided that it's on the allow list, and play a game. Then get home and double click the file using Notepad if it asks you for which program you want to do it in. On mine, it openned it using Notepad automatically.

I think you have to save the screenshots if you want the scores. It'll then be saved in to a folder called "Screenshots".

your scores are also saved to a spreadsheet I believe. stats.xml was it? you'd have to ask someone who has slots at their arcade. also to take screenshots, you tap the left and right selector arrows on the machine when the results screen is showing, and it will be saved to your card.
