If a person claims to have beaten a difficult song, but with using a speed mod to make it easier, I'd look down at that. I don't believe anybody has truely cleared a song until they beat it on 1x. |
So if a person only played LoM on ex stage and only passed it on ex stage(not regular stage) then you would say that person hasn't truly beaten the song? Same goes for Maxx U. on Max2 and Max300 on Max1.... |
I'm not too familiar with how extra stage works since it's rare for me to go to the arcade. Does extra stage have some of the regular settings changed? Does this include speed mods? Do those mods make the song harder or easier?
If it makes the song easier, than as I said, I would look down at that and not believe they have truely beaten the song.
If it makes the song obviously harder, than congrats.
Something to note: If the song is harder on extra stage, than please notice what i have put in bold. This will prevent an(/a little) argument if that's the case.

To sum up my feelings, read the above quote. _________________

its not just the 1.5 reverse, its the pressure mode that makes them hard. a mode not available in normal play.
(and in this case, speed mods are making it harder, as stated before me) _________________

Yeah ... so anyway ...
I only use them if I am deciphering a song. And I don't use them until I've beaten the song at least.
It wouldn't feel right to me if I had beaten Bag on 2X, or 3X, or whatever ... it was more fun -- as well as accomplishing -- to beat it on 1X first, then begin to figure it out.
The same goes for songs like Leading Cyber, My Summer Love, and all those other ones. It just feels better to have beaten them. PAing them and figuring them out by spreading the arrows out can come later. _________________

Actually, my first thought when I saw that topic was, "I liked the second movie better, and I can't wait for X3 to come out." _________________

When I am better at doing it on normal speed I will consider it a cata, but for now i don't think so. I also find it really useful when i am practicing a dance on training mode if it is way too hard i slow the speed down to like 3 and then put it on like 2x or 3x. it really helps. | There are alot of 9's that I can only do on 1.5 but I don't consider them as catas i've passed...thats gonna have to wait till I can do them on 1x _________________

I never understood how Solo made things easier, I donno I've used it once so I can't really judge.
I use 1.5x, but only after I've beat the song on 1x. If the person i'm playing with picks like MaxX or Max 300, i'll stick it one 1.5x Sure the pressure isn't there and it's not going down, but I still get some of the effect of when I first beat them. Oh well, in all the tournments I've been in, they don't allow mods, so I usually practice on 1x. |

It helps you sight-read as your playing like blue being 1/4, red being 1/8 etc..which is why I use it. |

I never look down at anybody for playing with a modified speed, it helps you to read the arrows and it's natural for those who want to improve their skills with that one song. If you need to play a song with a modified speed, I have no objection to it. Practice makes perfect. |

They make almost every song alot easier, so speed mods = cheating. Same with solo mode. Regardless of what your reasons are for using them, you're usually not using them to make it harder, right?
When i use a speed mod (which is very rare) my reasons are to make it easier for me, and i know no matter how nuch better i do with them, it doesn't really count. If i AA a song with a speed mod and/or solo, i don't consider it a 'real' AA until i've done it normally.
