If the licences dont take off the way people planned. . why not try to get ahold of some willing dj's and artists, build up a name for the company and the artists.

It sounds .. different, if it happens I'll give it a try. DDR purists might slam it.

It seems ironic. The developers of Stepmania, a program that is popular mainly because of official DWI files, want to put in a mechanism to prevent official ITG files from being ripped from the arcade disc. Unless it would act more like Konami's security cartridges, which allow you to copy all the data, but don't allow the game to be played on an arcade machine without the right cartridge.
Thinking about it more, it's probably the latter, but it would be nice to have confirmation on that.

If you buy the sensor product and use it in your machine, I believe that is legal.

However, if you buy the product and manufacture it on your own, that is stealing the intellectual property and that is illegal.

Bingo, thank you.

If they want to build machines using that sensor design, they could buy the sensors from Konami for use in their own machines (I've seen the cute little green things, they're cheap and shipping is next to nothing). Or better yet, just buy rights to manufacture and use the sensors. So the cute little green pressure switches aren't totally off-limits.

Does anyone know if that skin is availible anywhere? Because I would even PAY for it! It looks really cool and I love the use of the reel for the songs. And the NoteSkin is killer too! So if anyone can give me the 411, please, cuz I REALLY love it ALOT!!

Ok, not THAT much E10.gif E13.gif

Wow, and I thought the SM devs had balls before....

But, really, the beauty of SM is its versatility with music, but its kind of lacking in the "pure gameplay" department. So what do you get when you strip SM of its music verstility? An inferior DDR clone that is incredibly easy to sue. Don't get me wrong, I love SM and prefer it over DDR, but what I like about it is the immense amount of music for it. But, if it works out, (not likely) I'll be quite happy. Oh, and CVS devs, I would really try and hold out until you can actually profit from this until you approve of it.
