i dont like guitar hero! lets start a cult!
anyways, this is one of the 1st music games i didnt really like much at all when it boils down to gameplay. The reason why isnt because of the game itself, but the controller. This is a terrible piece of gaming equipment. The thing KILLS my hands. The strummer is too tight. And when i really think about it, im not a big fan of much of the music(besides stuff like higher ground). But look at my user name. Thats music i like.
the first time i played it i was like "whoa this is almost as good as DDR!" then 2 weeks later i found myself to realize that the controller is uncomfortable and the song list has no variety. This was worse of a waste of money than beatmania USA! |

I like Guitar Hero infinitely better because I can't stand Japanese music at all. And I like five buttons better, even if it is easier.
Can't wait for GH2... Hell yes on Rush and Rev. Horton Heat. |

I'm gonna have to go with this kid right here too.
I mean, I DO like Japanese music....for Beatmania. I never could 'feel' the majority of songs for GF though (Russian Roulette and BreakDown are the only ones I can stand at the ability level I have)
Guitar Hero though, while butchering the songs, had more guitar feeling songs to it, rather than just giving you an electric guitar prop and throwing songs that just don't see to mesh with the rockish ambience the guitar and drums seem to give off that it seems with GF/DM
The game is a lot easier, I'll give it that. But it's for Americans that haven't played music games as much in addition to the Japanophiles. Appealing to a larger audience with a not impossible to pick up game (a game that takes years to master or a game that takes a month? c'mon, Americans want stuff now) seems a bit smarter anyway.
*shrugs*
Either way, I like it. And no reason to hate on anyone for playing games.
...Except those that play Halo...
....fscking snipers.. _________________

Haha.... I always get mad playing it because I can play both solos in Clapton's Crossroads very well (I first learned it tab book, note for note, but now I ad lib a bit), but in GH I can't do it really at all. So I'm just like, what the F, I can play this in real life, but I can't do the stupid simulation.
...then I found 5 dollars. |

It is really easy, that's probably because they figure games like that aren't HUGE in the US so people aren't practiced enough or something. But something about it is super fun. I like having 5 button compared to only 3 on guitar freaks. _________________

since i'm bored, heres a list of totally awesome(licenced) japanese songs that would totally rock(no pun intended) in a guitar game.
LACK-Porno Graffiti
READY STEADY GO-L'arc~en~ciel
Glamorous Sky(nana)-mika nakashima(which is going to be in the upcoming GF game btw)
VIVA ROCK-Orange Range
HUMMING 7-4-ayumi hamasaki
PRIDE-HIGH and MIGHTY Color
keep in mind i dont have my ipod with me, and i only did 1 song per artist.
also, actually im pretty sure you have to be percise when you strum a guitar, and usually when you hit the wrong notes while you play the guitar it still plays the note. _________________

Sorry about the bump, I recently played Guitar Hero for the first time and wanted to post what I thought.
For one, I felt silly wearing that guitar controller in Game Stop. People are afraid of embarrassing themselves playing DDR, but I was afraid of putting on the controller and looking stupid.
Next, I couldn't find any songs I wanted to do. None of them seemed like something I'd want to play a music game to.
Alright, that's it. I had to take a moment to decide if I really wanted to try it in front of people. I felt stupid. |

if you think thats embarassing, i remember when i first got the game and thought it was cool i brought it to my local LAN gaming center with the guitar on the back of my back johnny cash style.
Wow i feel really stupid now....expecially since now i look at it and think that GH is the halo of music games.
For all you stupid people, halo is to the FPS as GH is to the music game. _________________

I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't put on the guitar controller at all if there were enough people around. |

I like GH okay. I'd MUCH rather give IIDX or Pop'n a spin (can't give GF/DM any love as I don't have controllers for either) in the good ole PS2, but it's good for messing around with the friends. I don't care for the interface, the guitar is indeed uncomfortable, IMHO the buttons aren't sensitive enough (I could probably 4 or 5 star Bark At The Moon Expert if I didn't have to mash the buttons so far in and I could just tap and glide like how I play IIDX when I one hand), some of the covers are VERY bad (Take Me Out, I Love Rock And Roll (which is a sucky song anyway IMHO), Cochise, anyone?) and I wish they'd stuck with one person singing to keep the feeling of being in a decent cover band alive. How can that one dude make so many voice changes?
And wtf at the girl, dunno about you guys, and call me stereotypical, but I've NEVER seen a not-white girl singing in a rock band. I'm not being racist, this is merely an observation, I thought it was kind of cool in the game. _________________

haha, you have to "insert silly korean mans voice" in that too.
yeah, i always hate it when people think i'm good at dancing because i'm good at DDR. Sure, i'm always up for a good rave but i can't dance for my life. I have TERRIBLE balance, but DDR definitely has helpe dit.
man, if i was rich i would make a video of me furociousely destroying the guitar hero controller then dropping a cobalt flux on it and on screen have it say "PWNED!!"
or perhaps smashing it against a beatmania machine and say "nothing ain't stoppin' the beatmania!"
wow those are some truly good ideas....anyone wanna give me $40 so i can get a GH guitar and do it? _________________

DR. DEATH wrote: | you aren't cool because you play iidx | As soon as I read that, my first thought was "Remy would disagree".
Sure, you aren't necessarily cool just for playing IIDX (or any music game for that matter), but there has been a lot of neat stuff as a result of someone playing a music game that has in turn made them pretty cool in the eyes of many.
A few examples off the top of my head:
VJ Army and Pop'n Navy - Results of Remy wanting scorekeeping for home IIDX and later doing a similar site for Pop'n Music, opening it to everyone after recieving positive feedback.
Ransai and Desktop Arcade - Guys that sell homemade ASCs for Pop'n and IIDX (or so I hear...). They make products of higher quality than the Pop'n ASC from what I gather from owners (I'm happy with my homebuilt ASC).
DDR Freak - A result of some guys who wanted to have a place to get DDR players together to chat.
Stepmania - Some guys wanted to simulate DDR. They did it. To great success.
Yasu, Lisu, and all the tatsujin guys - Dunno about many of you, but a lot of these guys are pretty cool to me, especially the guys that are the first to do something incredible (Lisu one-handing One More Lovely Another7 on IIDX RED AC, anyone?). You can pick up techniques by watching tatsujins for most Bemani games that can in turn help you get better.
So yeah, you aren't cool for playing. You're cool for what you do for the community that that also plays, unless your the tatsujin master. _________________

Or put the beatmania machine on wheels and rolling over the Guitar Hero controller. |

I dislike it simply because some ignorant fools (read: ADAM SESSLER AND MOOOOOOOORGAN WEBB!) thought that BM was a ripoff of it. _________________
