really?
lol
Yeah, it's ok.
I'm use to DDR Freestyle like I said, that's all.
But you are right though on freetyle/doubles routines.
They're a lil harder, and I stopped doing em cause I can pretty much do the same thing for singles. "pretty much" lol
Well, that sucks though =/
I'd like to just get a video out online, lol.
and more, but, whatever,
Now that I know, I'll still go and do a singles if still possible, and if it isn't just let me know asap cause I gotta get crackin on my routine for NYC.
Thanks
Edit: I can't get pictured being laughed at, but I don't know how the community for Pump It Up is.
You make it seem like they're different. _________________

Anti-perspirant and a good diet could cost how many millions of dollars? While a simple black T-shirt costs me $3 at Walgreens.
You do the math.[/quote] |

One more thing I forgot to mention. Which I think is important
About doubles and singles.
Singles can be considered harder cause you don't have as much to work with, as in doubles where you have the entire pad to incorperate your moves.
Granted you have a bigger range of steps to memorize. And with that, you have more room though.
With singles, you don't. You have one pad of steps coming up on the screen. That's all.
And with that limited amount of room, if that person does good or outstanding or whatever, I don't think the judges should just downgrade that persons score just because it's not on doubles.
We're freestyling, DANCING!!! thus being judged on how we perform.
Not on the difficulty of the song.
I just really think judges should keep that in mind before they judge me
If I'm allowed to enter of course. _________________

I just had a convo with the AM guy last night. I had earlier sent him your query. He said he was still trying to find out, and will likely know on Monday. He indicated he didn't think it would be a problem for you to do single-sided freestyle, but he will get the final word for us.
As far as performance goes -- yes, dancing is a big part of the grading system, as well as creativity and "power moves."
(Smidget, I e-mailed the convo with macnom to you. He plans to answer your other questions then as well, once the meeting takes place there) _________________

Quick question. When you say "power moves" does that mean the flips and stuff?
And also, do you think it's likely to win/do good without "power moves?" _________________

Power moves = things that require power, athletic strength/skill. Flips, bar flares, L-Kicks, handstands, etc. The Koreans seem to love that stuff on Pump, and reward such moves in the judging guidelines. Can you win without them? Yes. Does it hurt not to have some? Yes.
I think you could score well without them, but based upon the competition expected to be there, I don't think someone would win without a few. The grading standard uses a points system, awarding points for several aspects of your routine. It'd be really bad to get zero points in one area, lol. _________________

Hmmmm. Ok. Well, I guess i'll have to figure something else. The best I have is a handstand, and it's not even that great. Oh boy. Haha, hmmm. I have a week and a day to get better. Yay....
Also, there is most likely not going to be a qualifing for freestyle, correct?
Haha one more question, to those of you that have been to the Jillian's there, do they have any more bemani games besides PIU? (ITG, DDR, IIDX, Drum-mania, etc...)
Crap, another one. Umm, I know you must be 18 unless accompanied by an adult there, soooo do you think they would give me the 15 year old freestyler (haha) an exception, because I don't think my G-Pa is gonna stick around all day, until the actual tourney for freestyle starts.... _________________

The creativity department in "power moves" must die out :X
Although there is lotta things you can still do, like when I watched Smidgets FS vid from Houston, that hand stand in the beginning was neat. ^.~!
But I do see lotta same hand stands and flips used over and over. =/
If you watch teh DDR vids, they're all completly different. _________________

correct, no qualifier for freestyle
Haha one more question, to those of you that have been to the Jillian's there, do they have any more bemani games besides PIU? (ITG, DDR, IIDX, Drum-mania, etc...)
nope. There aren't any arcades around there that have other bemani/music games. There used to be a para para but not anymore.
Crap, another one. Umm, I know you must be 18 unless accompanied by an adult there, soooo do you think they would give me the 15 year old freestyler (haha) an exception, because I don't think my G-Pa is gonna stick around all day, until the actual tourney for freestyle starts....
The only age restriction is after 10:00 p.m. you have to be 21. During the day is does not matter how old you are. Since we plan on finishing before 8:00 you should be fine. _________________

cx3 --
Just got the official ruling from the Koreans:
Yes, you can enter Freestyle Division using only one side of the machine. They just had their Nationals there in Korea this past weekend, and they allowed it. The judges are directed not to discriminate against single-sided freestyle. Only the quality of the dancing and performance are to be considered.
So, you're in luck! _________________

YES!
Already bought my ticket to NC. Can't wait to see you guys there! Mad props to all the organizers, i know you guys must be putting major hours in preparation for this tourney.
I plan to rent a car once i get there, so if any other out-of-towners want to network for transportation (or just to not be alone in a new place) then hit me up through private message, or send an email to bwooden@hotmail.com. I'll be arriving in Charlotte around 4pm or so on the 23rd. Just look for the tall black guy with dreds dancing while he waits for his baggage claim.
Peace! _________________
