Y halo thar Rave Discman. |
Oh comeon now, Mad Catz is sure to make an crappier/more craptastic controller than even the RD. I bet the buttons are shaped like decahedrons (and spaced really far apart) and the turntable is a triangle |
.....a triangle turntable would be pretty cool IMO.
...but they're going to screw us by parallelogramizing it. _________________

Which automatically hits the desired note and not another note.
Which also won't work because Mad Catz stuff usually sucks. Well, the Beat Pad is OK if you mod it... _________________

Various sites are posting dates of November 2005. They include GameGal, IGN, Gamespot, and Game Rankings.
Anybody got something on this? |

I have a handful of a fluid you probably won't like, assuming those dates are real. _________________

If that's the real date (but I assume it's a general time frame) ...
*grabs keys to car* I just might go pre-order. _________________

Konami's press release from a few days ago announcing the partnership with American Idol still says that beatmania is coming "next year", so who knows. _________________

We've had... what, a eight-year wait for Beatmania to officially hop the pond? Man, I still can't believe it's finally coming over officially. |

I'm just saying this: OPM had a special for the Fall PS2 and PSP games. OPM says that beatmania is coming out sometime in November, along with Karaoke Revolution Party and Guitar Hero. Not trying to stir anything up.

Not exactly. Those arcade machines died early when KOA decided to stop throwing money away on coin-ops (in this country).
HHM had three versions. DDR and GF only had one. Unfortunately, people just bought the units and put bootlegged Japanese software inside. This pretty much guarunteed that KOA would be unable to sell upgrade kits. So now KOA was in the sucky position of being unable to sell neither new units nor new software for their new arcade games! Unsurprisingly, after about a year of NO INCOME they packed up the party and took it to the consoles. It wasn't HHM's fault. It was the fault of our crappy arcade industry. Few people seem to have any idea how badly KOA's arcade division got screwed. (Although every other arcade developer got screwed, too.) If your average (surviving) arcade today didn't suck dick and bite then we'd probably still have some kind of Beatmania series going on in our arcades.
Also, HHM barely had a launch. How many HHM machines are there in DDRFreak's database? One of the admins should do a query. But from what I know, there aren't many and they didn't get very far. There was no advertising for HHM, either. And KOJ screwed up by not following up with a HHM home version for the PS1. (Which would've been advertising enough.) So you can't really say that it failed. What happened back in 1998 was more like an aborted launch. And because HHM is so obscure now hardly anyone is going to look at Beatmania and say "Wow! Just like HHM!" So do what KOA seems to have done* and just forget that it ever existed. Our new Beatmania games aren't going to be influenced by HHM one bit.
*HHM is not mentioned on any Konami website, according to Google. |

Ok, let me rephrase, then.
No, we had HipHopMania, and it failed, but not because of the game itself.

The fact that Konami still says "next year" I think should take some weight from that line.
Just because a magazine reports what is written elsewhere doesn't add a whole lot of weight to a statement at all. _________________

Okay, that's weird. That wasn't there, like, 6 hours earlier.
Bye November. ;_; Oh well, at least I get two DDRs to pass the time. X3 |

DDR had 2 AC versions, and let us not forget Pop'n Music USA (lolerskates).
that boxart is.. interesting. I wonder what it tells us about the games interface, since I doubt we will use 9th styles. _________________

I've never played Beatmania before, but it looks pretty fun. I'm gonna buy this game. And it's a plus that it has some DDR stuff I've heard.
Well, I almost played Beatmania for the first time today. I was at a mall near my grandma's house, and I stopped by the arcade. Over in the corner was just what I wanted to see: A DDR machine. Right next to it was another interesting machine: Beatmania III.
I had one dollar in my pocket.
So, I chose DDR because I knew I could win and I hadn't played in a week.
That's my almost-Beatmania story.
Now here's a question: A lot of DDR songs originated in Beatmania, right? So how long are most BM songs? Would the songs be longer in Beatmania? Because it would be interesting to hear long versions of the DDR songs I've been playing... _________________
