cobalt flux problems

I'm trying to map my Cobalt Flux in stepmania, but It won't work. I have the version that came with the ps2 only control box and also got the SmartJoy plus usb adapter from the guy that I bought the pad from. How do I get it to work? I know I saw some code online about pressing up start select, but I couldn't figure it out? I was thinking about buying a new control box, but I would get it in the time that I want it, plus it's not that cheap! What should I do?

The code involves holding up+start+select for three seconds before stepmania.

Hmm, when you are in Stepmania, and you look at the test input, does anything appear when you press the arrows on the cobalt flux? If things show up, that at least means the pad is still sending signal.

The problem may lie in the smartjoy plus, because that adapter has been known to have a few compatibility issues. Go to Control Panel->Game Controllers. Do you see anything in there?

When I use the cobalt flux, I use the adapter from Frys. It is similar to a Dilong adapter which does have the updown leftright issue. This problem can easily be fixed with the correct program, and correct re-syncing. You can try to do that.
