hey guys sorry if this has been answered already i tried looking but couldnt find the answer, basically i just got a new pad (TX-6000) and im going to need to metal sheet mod it.
My question, which type of metal is best for the sensor out of Copper, Stainless, Aluminium, Perforated, Patterned, Galv Steel and Mild Steel?
Does it matter?
Much Appreciated. _________________

I believe it's sheet metal ... but that's about all I know? Haven't gotten a TX yet.
Who would know ... well, alot of people here, but I know for sure DancingTofu would have the answer. _________________

I think TX pads are tin foil sensors.
CobaltFluxes use Aluminum, right? Or is it galvanized Steel? |

CF's use Galvanized steel.
Gold > Stainless Steel > Copper > Galvanized Steel > Aluminum > everything else sucks*.
*silver, titanium, etc might be better, but you never hear of them being used. Gold and Stainless steel WILL NOT RUST EVER AT ALL. Copper's the only metal legal for use in plumbing IIRC because it's rust resistant, and is the core material of most wires. Galvanised Steel is relatively cheap and works well.
If you have the budget for gold-plated copper sensors plates for your pad, buy them, but honestly, a good sturdy sheet of galvanised steel or aluminum will do fine. _________________

Buy whatevers cheapest. You'll never notice the difference between silver at 16nano-ohms and steel at 100 nano-ohms. I mean, come on... we're taking NANO ohms. Use galvanized steel if you're not soldering, copper if you are. (these typically being the cheapest options) _________________

They use gold and copper a lot in Sound equipment because they don't want the signal to become distorted AT ALL, but this is a lot less precise than that. _________________

*HUGE TIPS!*
if you dont/cant spend as much on the thicker sheet metal, but galvanized flashing (roofing section). it's cheaper, and since it wont be seen, no one will care
*SUPER NOTE=DO NOT BUY THE ALUMINUM FLASHING! (just to not start the whole topic again, i know AL does conduct, but the flashing must be coated in something that doesnt)
the aluminum flashing does not carry an electrical charge! be safe by grabbing a meter and testing whatever material you use. _________________

hi thanks for the replies, well i decided to go for the standard aliminium sheets and they register fine however something bothered me, after a few days of play i opened up the arrows to see if everything looked fine and i found that around the metal sheets a lot of the selo tape which i used to stick the sheet on had a lot of black marks, some where the whole strip of the tape were black. i dont know what could have caused this and just want to whethere this is normal? is the sheet im using not suitable?
There are a lot of marks on the actual sheet as well, mostly black dotty marks.
Just need to know whether this is damaging the pad...thnks. _________________

It's probably coming from the foam. Probably not an issue if it'll come off the sensors, as long as you open them up and clean them every few weeks/months. _________________
