Metal pad closest to an arcade pad?

Hey, I am looking around for a good metal pad. I want one that is very close to the arcade pads. I would buy a cobalt flux, but they have no bar. I am looking for a pad that is no more than 1000$. I am also looking for I pad I don't have to mod. I won't, can't, and don't want to have to mod the pad.

So I need the closest thing I can get to an arcade pad without modding anything.

Right now TX-6000/BlueShark/Aion 800$ model look the best. I am really looking for it to practice for the arcade. So I would prefer the brackets, arcade sensors, and the same layout, so I can practice heel-toe and other things.

Blueshark. It's 400 bucks and Sold Out for God knows how long, but it's the closest thing to an arcade pad.

They should just put a sign on the top of every page: "BLUESHARK IS THE BEST METAL PAD OKAY DON'T ASK ANYMORE." This question has been asked literally hundreds of times on the multiple DDR/SM forums.

Any places besides mymybox where I can get a blueshark, even if its used? Couldn't find anything on ebay.

You can try looking in the Marketplace forum. They pop up in there once in a while.

Another option is to build your own, which I don't recommend if you are not good at constructing stuff. Here's a guide on how to make one:

You may be able to get one of the members on this forum to build you a pad. If you're willing to shell out the kind of funds you're talking about, I'm sure you can get a very nice home-built pad for around $500. Try posting a wanted ad in the marketplace perhaps. The homebuilds are about as close to arcade pads as they come. Hell, mine even has actual arcade sensors and sensor layout.

do not buy anything from ddrgame. it sucks

if you want the absolute best arcade style pad, the blueshark is the way to go, but its rarely in stock (also, im not sure about the bar, as i have yet to try it)

What's wrong with DDRGame? Well, their pads suck. They're horribly overpriced, the bars that come with them are horrible and flimsy in quality. DDRGame themselves are a shady company.

my friend has bought 2 pads from them. after the first one, im not sure why he bothered, but he did anyway.

he bought one, it came broken. he had to doggy in order to get it fixed. once it arrived, the panels on it (POS wood covered in metal on top) bent in, and then the sensors became poopy. (currently, this is the one i am fixing up)

so, after that one pretty much died, he got another one (not sure if he just argued with DDRGame or not, but he received another one). this one wasnt *quite* as bad as the last one, but it wasnt as sensitive on the arrows. after about a year total, he said screw it, and managed to get ahold of the blueshark, which is great (once he got it working. bad control box at first)

so, stay away from ddrgame: its a bad company, as well as the products are horrible.

uh, for arcade accurate, theres not really one that i know of. *possibly* the CF with the arcade mod, but personally, i dont like the CF at all

most other pads dont use the arcade style sensors like the blueshark uses

I still say commission one of the guys on here to build you one.

DancingTofu(SMC) made 4 for convention prizes, I think. There probably are a couple others who do as well.

yeah, commissioned is probably your best bet. the only thing is that shipping would be insane (although, thats pretty true about all pads...)

anyway, i would consider doing it for you, but being that i'm in college now, away from all the tools, i kind of can't unless you would be willing to wait until december-ish (or i found some people with tools here).

also, be aware that if you did commission one, it will probably be very expensive, probably more than the blueshark even (and you'd have to talk to whomever you were thinking of building one to see what type of sensors, etc..)

I actually was only able to get the frames made, and not enough people registered for the tournaments to run them so it didn't matter anyway. I'm giving the frames to a friend of mine who's much better with electronics and he's going to see if he can turn them into DDR pads, instead of very fancy crates.

Arcade-like isn't necessarily good-like. The best fully metal frame design out there is the BeatGear frame; it just uses re-roofing metal to fill the space and make it thick saving a few hundred dollars compared to the price of the aluminum tubing used in Konami and Betson pads. Additionally, the arcade pads use inconsistent, overpriced digital I/O boards, which will cause you all sorts of grief. Just getting a circuitboard from radioshack and some diodes is much more logical.

Even the sensors aren't really that great; tapeswitches are easy to use, but they wear out and cost a bunch.

as for arcade style, thats the BS, but you will have to wait.


you could always try researching yourself instead of bashing the people on this forum also.
