I'm trying to load custom songs on itg 2 which are apparently over the 5 mb limit. Is there a way I can trick the machine (like with the ogg length patch) to think it is less than 5 mb big? If not, is there a good program for cutting mp3s down seamlessly so I can get them small enough to use?

No, the 5mb limit is very finite - the machine won't consider anything larger. Also, it's best to keep sizes low since the machine only examines the first 100 Mb or so in the folder, meaning several large songs (whether or not it allows them) can reduce the number of songs loaded.

Audacity is a good free audio program for processing OGGs. Just import them, adjust the quality of the audio channel down a bit (through the machine speakers, the difference between 192 kbps and 128 is negligible, and even 64 sounds fine), and re-export it as an OGG Vorbis file.

If this is what I think it is, it's an r21 custom song converter, a handy program to try. It processes any song folder by converting the music to OGG, compressing it if over 5Mb, adding the length patch if necessary, removes BG and Banner images, and checks the SM/DWI, basically leaving only the song and steps when done. And it's automatic.

That pretty much sums it up. I don't think the DWI to SM is fully working yet though, but the programmer is working on a different setup that allows for that. He is also making changes so that you can customize exactly how much you want to the program to do (ex: don't remove the BGs for hacking purposes).

Look for Pat's hacked R23 exec.

No song/size limit, and you get working background scripts.
