|
|
Are Pop'n music ASCs rare in the market and does it have high demand? I could make some ASCs and sell them, not on a wide scale which I crank out a factory, but seemingly how it is relatively easy to make for me, I could make like 20 and sell them.
By the way, since my budget is limited as I am 14, If I ever start I would be able to make only 1 to 2 at a time, since the buttons are quite expensive.
This is the cheapest buttonset I could find
http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/954002xxxxz.htm
Would it be a reasonable price to sell them at the cost of making one plus 25% of the cost of making one plus shipping? That would enable me to:
Lets say it costs me 100 dollars to build an ASC:
Budget: $250
I make one for myself (And practice): $150
I make one to sell: $50
I sell it: $175
I make another to sell: $75
I sell it: $200
I make another one to sell: $100
I sell it: $225
I make another one to sell: $125
I sell it: $250 (I am back to my original budget)
I make another one to sell: $150
I sell it: $275 $25 PROFIT!
Assume shipping for a product is around 25 dollars, it would be $150 for an ASC, is this a good price?
The worst thing is... Ive never played Pop'n music, but I want to and the only thing thats holding me back is the price and I don't have a japanese PS2.
I could manufacture craploads of boxes and short out lots of controllers. Do PS1 controllers work? The buttons are what will cost alot, its like 81 dollars for buttons w/o shipping. _________________

DumpsterKeeper makes them as well as IIDX ASCs for a decent price (DesktopArcade), then there are Dj DAO and I've seen a few other brands. You should know already, but Happ buttons are the ones the official controllers use, so you're in good shape with those. If you want to go homebrew, I can scan you my DT100 pushbutton design (yeah, lol, turns out my very first design, the one I put away in the closet for two years, makes a pretty decent $2 homebrew pushbutton) or you can come up with your own thing.
It's basically just a box with buttons, like every other controller. Shouldn't be hard for you to make. _________________

I can't make any promises yet, I haven't even made myself a controller, my dad is the "middleman" in getting me parts to make these, and i've never played pop'n.
I hope I'd be able to. _________________

thought i'd jump in here too..i made a popn asc also, actually, its in the corner of my room since i broke my ps2 and couldnt play jap games..
but anyway, i got my buttons from happ, and it was like $120 with shipping if i remember right, but man, they are so cool!
once i played popn at planet zero, i knew i had to make a controller, so i did, but ive only been able to test it out to make sure it works at a friends house.
i have some pics somewhere, and i think they are on my site www.eventsix.org
that was my base one with a horribly fast done paint job and sanding job, so it doesnt look as good as DJdao or DA's, plus no graphics either (im looking into that)
PS to Daikenkai: if you do decide to make them, and you want to get the 3" hole saw, to make things easier and whatnot: it costs like 20+ bucks!
also, wiring it is a bit tricky if youve never done it before.
last thing, i have a diagram somewhere of the measurements you will need if you do decide to make them
good luck! _________________
