|
|
In another thread, people seemed pretty insistent that the BlueShark pads are the best money can by. I have a few related questions:
1. What's second best?
2. Can the BlueShark pads be hooked together for doubles? They don't seem to sell them in pairs.
3. Is the 3" or 2" better? Why do they even have both?
4. Why are they always out of stock? Are there other good places to get them besides mymybox.com?
Any other advice would be welcome; that's a Pretty Large Purchase (tm) especially since I want to play doubles; it's a bit scary.

1) Everyone seems to second the Cobalt Flux to the Blueshark.
2) At 85 pounds a piece, there's no need to hook them up.
3) I don't know, the only time they get them in stock, they only have 2".
4) Maybe because everyone thinks they are the best.
Also, I've read that even when they are in stock, it takes many weeks for them to arrive after ordered. _________________

Well yeah, but I'm not just going to leave a gap between them that I can step in. That'd suck.

-Robin | I thought a doubles bracket was included with each pad so you can just connect them easily... |

From an e-mail from mymybox:
Quote: | At this time we do not have a system for attaching 2 pads together, however due to the size and weight (82 lbs.) of these pads the pads do not move during gameplay including doubles. |
They don't seem to get it either; no reply to my followup question yet.

Do you mean like to attach them without a gap like in the arcade version? |

Yes.
More precisely: I want to play doubles. Therefore, I want two pads exactly as far apart as they would be in the arcade, without there being a gap between them for me to step in and break my ankle.

Use a 2x4 for the filled gap. That gap, on an estimate, not having looked at an arcade pad in three weeks, would be about 1.25 inches. A 2x4 is 1.5 inches thick, so just trim 1.5" off the 4 side (which is actually 3.5"), and cut it down to about 36" long and it should be just right. You can then just attach them together with a couple sheets of metal with holes drilled in them for the screws. I can't remember if BlueSharks have holes on the corners like CF's do, but if not, you should be able to just drill through whatever's there and not worry about damaging anything, since it's probably just solid wood or plastic. _________________
