Hey, firstly I'm sorry if this isn't the best place to post this. I didn't see any stickies, or any forums related to custom songs, so I will just post it here.

I'm not too good at stepping songs, but if anyone wants to try stepping this, that would be really cool:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=625477&songID=5799574

Click 'hi-fi' to listen, and I can send you an mp3 if you don't want to register for the site (make sure to post your e-mail address).

Let me know if you're interested.

If I really like the steps, I might either add/remove some steps and resubmit for placement in FFR (I have three songs in FFR by the way, so I'm not just throwing some half-buttocks idea out there). E13.gif

P.S. The BPM is 145.

You know I don't typically take on projects anymore, but this actually sounds like fun. I'll do it.

Send an e-mail to dr.sane@gmail.com. I will reply with the song.

And get in touch with 0rion if you want a shorter version of the song. He's working on manually chopping a length edit, although I'll be mastering one by either sunday or monday regardless.

It's not much of a "chopping," really. I'm simply fading it out just before 2:00, since most of what happens after that is pretty much the same stuff.

By the way, 0rion, I've done a bit of subtle mastering, and added a sprinkle of hi-hats in some places. The changes can be heard on the same link.

It shouldn't affect your steps at all. You may not even notice the difference. But the point is, when you send me the file, I'll update the song with the fade wherever you put it.

And if I feel like the fade is not suitable, I'll sub in the more formal length edit of mine.

Dude, stop being so picky, just let him do it how he wants, considering HE IS THE ONE STEPPING IT.

Notice how I did let him do what he wants? erm.gif

Besides, I think the artist gets way more say about how the song is edited than the step file person does.

Normally no artist would knowingly let someone fade out their song half way through. I made an exception for 0rion because he was right in his reasoning.

Why don't you just do it? It really isn't that hard.

lol....

I volunteered to make him a length edit, he said no. I said okay. And we're back to post number four.

... Anyways, this is enough. Back on topic.

Well, I got finished with it a lot sooner than I thought I would. I hope you enjoy it.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9XQ9Z4YO

A few notes:
-The song is in ITG3-ready ogg vorbis format. If you'd like an mp3 version, I can make that available.
-I used the old cut of the song, because I was already partway through when I saw the new version.
-The song ends just a little bit before the fade, but I don't think it's too noticeable one way or another.
-There's no BG/banner images for this song. I was going to come up with some, but in the end I just wanted to get it done.
-No doubles charts (yet).
-Because you expressed an interest in uploading this to FFR, I didn't use any Stepmania/ITG conventions such as a Rolls, Hands, or Mines. I could have, but in the end I decided that the conversion would go smoother without them.

Stepchart notes:

-Challenge (9): I had a lot of fun with this one. Basically, I wanted to dance around between all of the different tracks in the song. I wanted to unpredictably (yet intuitively) jump between the background and foreground music and come up with a stepchart that flowed without ever becoming predictable. I'll let you be the judge on how well I did.

-Heavy (7): This chart focuses more on the foreground stuff and doesn't vary too far from the traditional melody and rhythm lines. As such, it's a little easier to follow and a lot less complex.

-Standard (6): Meh.

-Light (2): Who cares.

Well, I hope I did you proud. I haven't done any commissions in quite some time, but I enjoyed doing this again for the heck of it.

Hey! I tried the challenge steps, and I must say, great stuff! I'm very happy you did this. E1.gif

They are fun and flow well with the music. I found myself questioning only a couple minor sections.

If I submit this to FFR, I'll have to do a little tweaking, but you'll have credit for the step file. Do you have a username on FFR I can reference?

By the way, the steps seem to go an eigth note out of sync at the very end, but that's so minor. And maybe it's just me?

usually when it's magically an 8th note off, it's either in the nature of the song or it's just a bad cut. (Konoko, for example, naturally switches to a 16th note)

Everything should be on-sync, since it's a steady BPM and I didn't do any jump-cuts to the mp3 (just the fade-out). May I ask which measure you're taking about?

At any rate, I'm glad you liked it. I had a lot of fun making it.

I just listened to your song and I must say it is very good.
What hardware/software do you use to make your music, by chance?

I said off sync by an eight note. As in ... it just feels like all of the notes should naturally have been shifted up/down one note.

I'll note the specifics when I have time.

@HumanBeing : I use FL Studio 4. No external hardware.
