Beatmania ripped off Guitar Hero.

too bad the FMA game sucked....its not that the shows good,but if the game sucks, who cares(even tho im not an FMA fan...its too simple, although it does have a great soundtrack with l'arc~en~ciel...)

anyways, G4 has only gone downhill in the past year. Back in 2004/late 2003, i loved the channel, with its awesome shows like filter, judgement day, and icons(which is still the best show on G4). Ever since the whole merge with techtv thing and G4 went all xplay instead of judgement day it got bad... Back in 2004 i remember them praising DDR a lot...now they dont even care about it. heck i remember this awesome G4 commercial that had 2 people freestyling on metal DDR pads with nothing but the dance pad noise...it was a great channel.

And i also sent xplay hatemail, only not just for beatmania, but also there views on jpop. i remember watching an episode and during(random salesmen rings doorbell pause) there little "games for cheap bastards" FF X-2 and kingdom hearts was on and at first it was FF X-2 and they were like "this game features annoying jpop music and good gameplay, but the music is just terrible" and then on the KH there like "this game is good and it doesn't feature annoying J-pop musi- O wait, it does!" How dare they say that to the much more talented then them Koda Kumi and Utada Hikaru, expecially Utada. I've hated the show since then. The only time i watch it is during E3 because im too impatient to DL videos on my computer...but anything adam sessler or morgan webb makes me clutch my fist in anger.

Anyone else remember when G4 was good?

Like Anime Unleashed. It was the only place they DIDN'T edit the shows. Say, didn't they give Halo a bad score?? I've only heard about it.

i dispised G4 after halo and halo 2, they praised the game and just about everything else...was thrown in the tiolet. i remember when they used to praise DDR too. they had shows with people playing it and now that's nonexistent

i remember right before G4 finally merged with techtv(ie when they announced it on the channel) i watched quite a bit of that channel. It was a good channel. But now that channel just pisses me off. Every single time i watch it i get mad. Unless its icons and sometimes attack of the show(which isnt the greatest show, but compared to the crap shows on every channel nowdays its pretty good), it just sucks. The worst of all is definitely x-play tho. and i preferred that corey guy to that kristen holt girl. OMG shes hott lets put her on! same with morgan webb. They put them on because theyre hott and they have some knowledge on video games. Im sure they could have gotten someone else with far more video game knowledge for the show, but that doesnt matter.

O and now with filter coming back...

X-Play is just aggrivating. All of their reviews are saturated with sarcasm and bad on going jokes about kittens and retardation. Their job isn't to review games, it's to seek out anything slightly bad about it and blow it out of proportion. And then they pitch gamefly.

I also didn't notice how old this thread was but I dont care. It's a subject I'm passionate about (kindasortayeah)

I didn't see that epesode, but I could tell as soon as I got my beatmania in my PS2 that X-Play would hate it. If they'd gone online at ALL and looked it up, they'd know that it takes a week or two (for me a week, but that's what you get for playing 4 hours a day) to get better at it. What rating did they give it anyway? 2?

In the words of George Bush (sorta), Adam Sessler must be very intellegable. After all, it would take a true genius to notice that they both involve pressing buttons and making something rotate, so of course Beatmania is a rip off of Guitar Hero. Adam Sessler is a truley intellegable person.

GEEZ. I'll bet if Guitar Freaks came over here, they'll give it a 2 & say "THIS GAME RIPPED OFF GUITAR HERO!!!" w/o doing ANY research at ALL. Did they even SAY Beatmania was a hit in Japan & finally came over here after all these years? Someone should take them to Gaming college or something so they can learn different stuff about games like we do.....Or atleast GET gamers on the show. That's why I liked Judgement day. They had 2 people both giving their opinion, showing the good & bad sides of the game, & did it out of 10 instead of 5.

i was watching xplay and they did the top 10 PS2 games(why they did it i have yet to know...the PS2 still has over a year left before it's abandoned by everyone except EA). GH was number 4. They also said "we liked this game because it actually has songs we want to listen to." They also claimed guitar hero is video game "cult hit." WTF??? how much did they show this game on MTV? Jeez, i bet pretty soon Halo 2 will be a masterpiece and GTA SA will be the best PS2 game of all time.

oops, thats right, xplay said both of those things too.

O and katamari damacy was #5. I thought We <3 katamari was a hell of a lot better than demacy....it had more variety. But i guess it wasnt "original" anymore. They also said that its too "japanese-y" for america.

God i hate xplay.

Personally, I think it was harsh and ignorant to dismiss beatmania as a GH rip-off --even though beatmania first came out in the world in 1997, while GH emerged into the world just recently.

G4 is full of crap.
1.) Beatmania came first
2.) Beatmania is better
3.) Guitar Hero is the worst guitar game I've ever played, with the worst music in existance. Give me Guitar Freaks any day.
4.) Guitar Revolution will kill Guitar Hero, but not for these idiots.

Does anyone else remember when X-Play was Extended Play? It actually gave accurate reviews back then, IMO and had a hell of a lot simpler set-up. As there was only Adam Sessler on the show, they didn't have any chance for witty banter between him and Morgan Webb, so they just focused on reviews and getting them right. G4-Tech TV was a horrible merger.

Impossible. Beatmania is totally different. :O

I only watch ONE thing on G4 these days, literally ONE episode of one show. I always watch the Nobuo Uematsu episode of Icons/Game Makers/whatever the hell it's called now becuase I've been playing Final Fantasy as long as I could get my hands on them (since about 7 or so) and it brings back such nostalgia...
