I gave up on trying to buy one, so i decided to make angelfire's design.
Store Metal Pads have limited or no warranty
Homemade ones need no warranty, because if you made it, you can fix it.
Store Metal Pads are usually not what they seem.
Homemade ones work as well as the amount of effort you put in it.
Store Metal Pads can run the prices high and underdeliver.
Homemade (if you do this) can be upgraded with better pieces if you find some, so you dont have to buy a new version to get updated pads.
If you're still in high school (like me) and are in shop class, you can probably get some free supplies! (we have a ton of sheet metal) which makes the pad even cheaper than some of the estimated prices of the original makers.
In any case, you can still buy, but with a homemade one, you get a cheaper pad with unlimited warranty, and the satisfaction of knowing you made it yourself!
