What is the default perspective? Overhead or Hallway? Thanks.

Hallway. You're welcome.

So here's a question: why is the default set to hallway, and since it's the default, why isn't it the first selection on the perspective modifiers list?

While we're at it, let's ask why quarter notes are red and 8th notes are blue. Personally, I believe quarter notes should be brown and 8th puce to match my shirt, and speaking of matching, those purple triplets just don't do it for me.

Summary: Kind of a pointless question. It's the way it is because some guy in Roxor felt like it.

I think maybe because in the original Stepmania build, Overhead was the first option in the list, but then they changed it to Hallway and nobody bothered to check that out before release.

I've heard, though I have nothing really official to back it up, that it was done as a way to differentiate it from DDR, possibly for legal reasons--you know, kinda like the Vanilla Ice thing...."No, look Mr. Konami Lawyers, our game ISN'T the same as yours! See? The PERSPECTIVE is different!"

Hallway gives you even more reaction time, so the total newbs who don't know about mods anyway will have even more time to figure out which way is left.

You've got a little bit of ego sticking out.

There's nothing regarding my amazingly huge ego in that post. Hallway gives more reaction time--this is a fact. Certainly you have seen people who have never played an arrow game before make an attempt. No matter how slow that arrow scrolls, they still can't find the proper time to hit it. Confusing directions (especially up/down) is also a common happening I have observed. Those are the kind of people who I'm talking about, hence my use of "newb" and not "noob."

There's a diference between "newb" and "noob"? Interesting....

Anyways, Hallway sort of looks like your arrow is on an old piano reel. I think it is harder to get Fantastics on VISUALLY (it obviously doesn't affect audio players.) Overhead just seems easier for PA reasons. I personally don't know why Hallway is default (nor do I care) but it does seem interesting that many people use Overhead instead, though you could then argue that x3 should be default because almost everyone uses speed mods.

Whatever.

I would say that it's because new players probably don't know about adjusting mods, and they're probably not going to be able to react at 3x at that point. It takes time to be able to read at high speeds.

A newb is a new player. A noob is someone who just plain sucks.
