I have IIDX9th since the released and never played it with IIDX controller before.
I read that some IIDX Controller keys doesnt work with US PS2 that well. |
Well, if you want to start getting better I suggest getting the KoC but if you want to wait a couple of weeks before the US release of beatmania. _________________

all the keys work fine with a us ps2, controllers are the same for any region. i'd wait till the us one comes out. if you buy one now it'll be expensive and you'll have to pay for shipping. when it comes out the bundle will only be $50. _________________

ATTENTION! ALPHA IS FINALLY GETTING A KOC CONTROLLER!
...
With that said, I'm planning on doing the slipmat (wax paper between the two plastic rings) on the turntable. I'm just concerned about damaging the sensor under the turntable. Does anyone know how the sensor works, etceteras?
The disassembly looks very easy and I think that if I take basic precautions (static discharge, etc) I won't kill the controller.
The places I read made it sound like you needed to push ultra-hard to get the turntable to rotate on a KOC versus an arcade system or ASC, and that pinkie-scratches were damn near impossible. |

does anyone have any links to official pics/info on the US Beatmania controller? I've heard the buttons are supposed to be more "clicky" than the KOC controller's are, but beyond that dont know if the overall quality is supposed to be any better/worse? I already own a KOC, but will still be buying the controller/game bundle (which is $65 according to ebgames, btw, not $50 as someone above posted) and am just interested in what types of changes I can look forward to in the new controller. TIA |

The turntable has gear teeth on the bottom of it, when you move it the teeth move something that triggers the turntable.
I think that's how it works _________________

It's not that much of a difference. Buttons are round and I believe they have springs inside. Not sure about the springs. All I know is that it's suppose to respond better. _________________

I just picked up beatmania US and I had a couple quick questions/concerns:
1) I was wearing a pair of regular jeans and the controller kept sliding off of it, is there something I can do to prevent the slippage?
2) I was watching a video of one of the arcade versions, and it looked like the turntable was modified with grip tape like that which was used on skateboard decks, would investing in some make scratching any easier? or should I just tough it out with the KOC as-is?

The turntable is an optical sensor. There are two sensors/gates on the circut board under the turntable, and the turn table has gear-like teeth that run through the gates.
Just make sure to discharge static, and don't yank any of the wires, or you're sunk _________________

I have a question about the turntable on the US Beatmania controller. It doesn't spin as freely as an arcade cabinet or another controller my friend has (there's a picture of it on the previous page), would it be a good idea (for gameplay, pinky spins) to loosen it, and how would I go about doing this? |

*breaks the topic of US 2DX controllers*
I'm planning on building a custom Amplitude controller (2DX style) I'm getting the buttons from HAPP but I have no idea how to wire it. I understand the chances are slim to none that theres a tutorial specifically for such an odd project, but does anyone know of a tutorial that will show me how to wire up the buttons to the dual shock to make this |

I guess this is sort of on topic. I find that my 1st USB port doesn't work, I have to use the 2nd port for my keyboard controller for keyboardmania. Anyone know how easy of a fix that might be? _________________

If you can hook someone up with a picture of the controller PCB you plan on using and what buttons you need solder points for, I'm sure you could get the info you need. Just keep in mind that soldering to a preprinted PCB can be a major, and I mean a MAJOR, pain in the buttocks. I ruined 5 PCBs making my Pop'n ASC (it was worth it btw, I finally bought and gutted and Afterglow controller, it looks sweet ) _________________

Originally, that connector was designed for a home conversion of beatmania III, for plugging in a drummania-style effector footpedal. But unfortunately, there hasn't been a release of beatmania III yet, so there really isn't much use for it. (but if you do plug the drummania footpedal into it, it'll switch effectors during the game with each press.Much more convienent than moving your hand from the keys to fumble with the effector during the game.) |

It's for the short-lived BeatMania III footpedal.
No homeversions ever got past beta testing. =(
Also, for you IIDX'ers and Pop'n'ers:
desktoparcade.com
I found that site recently and I'm impressed.
Someone want to order a controller and get us all some feedback?
I want to see if these are as awesome as they look, but I don't have the money. _________________

And you know this cause you worked for Konami in Japan at the time, right? This is the first I've heard of an actual home version of bmIII.
