Do you think C-Mods are completly wrong to use?

I do, it takes the whole challenge out of songs, and then without the challenge there is no fun in playing the game.

Plus, i think its stupid to get Disqualified from ranking, who care if you get a 98 on a song with C-Mods, your still DQ'd and your score doesnt matter.

Thats my opinion on this.

PS - Sorry if this topic has already been made.

I dunno if this topic has already been brought up or not.... hmm... Good post happy.gif

C-Mods aren't that big of a deal to me just because they don't seem to be used quite often. It does suck, though, how you get disqualified for using them, but then again that does make sense because then you would be able to read all bpm changing songs much easier.

Cmods are great. You can use them to try to memorize parts of songs that are "unreadable" otherwise. It DQs your score, so there shouldn't be wrong with using them.

I use Cmods on the songs where the BPM doesn't change. It's the same as if I had used an imaginary 2.25x on a 200 BPM song. I see no problem with it.

Yeah, using a C-mod sure does takes the whole challenge out of Euphoria or Bloodrush. They should be 9's with a C-mod.

Anyways, I think the way Roxor does it right now is perfect - disqualify for songs with stops/tempo changes. Stops and tempo changes are used in several songs with the intent to create a certain difficulty - just look at Bloodrush. Stops/tempo changes are just another gameplay device that can be used to create difficulty.

Most players follow this rule and don't use C-mods on songs that will DQ them for doing so, and can do so if they like on other songs. How is this "completely wrong"? i guess i would see your point if you were even 1% correct in your statement that "using a C-mod takes the whole challenge away", but as it stands that statement is about as dumb as saying "Let The Beat Hit 'Em is nearly impossible to AAA". Your opinion is wrong, sorry.

Where I live, C-Mods is an issue with some of the players, they use them non stop, and they always turn mines off, so this topic idea came into mind.

Well then that disqualifies them. If they want to play that way, let them. Disqualified scores are not comparable to real non-dq scores. Roxor says so by DQ'ing them, and most everyone agrees.

I think that their current CMods suck. I don't use them that's why. They're too slow. They removed C500, which sucks.

I read at around 600BPM, which is my preferred speed.

I think that CMods are good though, as long as you don't get DQ'd for it. Then it's cheating, which is why you get DQ'd for it.

C-mods are no problem at all for a song with no stops or tempo changes. It's basically just using a different Xwhatever if you get what I'm saying.

When you use a C-mod with tempo changes, cut-times, or stops, then you get disqualified and you SHOULD get disqualified. However, since you're disqualified, you shouldn't feel guilty. Everyone knows your score won't be official now and C-mods are a great way to practice songs like Vertex^2 before laying down your first OFFICIAL pass. Get what I'm aying?

Agreed. Mods like C-Mods and No Mines kind of go hand in hand. They are methods of making harder songs easier so that you can practice a song you wouldn't otherwise be able to pass. My girlfriend did this to practice Charlene Expert, and it worked; she passed the song on her next attempt.

I've given up entirely on debating reading speeds, whether constant or not.

C300 is just and easier version of 1.5x, which in turn is just an easier version of 1x.

Take that any way you want to.

The major issue is this.

You can memorize the song by practicing enough with c-mod, then play without it for the real score.

In this case, your previous use of the C-Mod to memorize the song was cheatngin a way.

At a certain point, any crazy set of speed changes/mods/stops/etc becomes equivalent to stealth. You just memorize the steps, and you are golden.

This is why tempo changes and stops used for difficulty are stupid gimmicks. All they do is force you to memorize the song when they are sufficiently hard to deal with. ANd ITG isn't supposed to be about memorization, it's about stepping, and learning to sightread.

Personally i think a new mod needs to be introduced, of it doesn't exist. it should be just like Shuffle, but change the shuffle pattern every few measures randomly. and not always on the same measures. And it should be FORCED ON on certain songs, so that they CANNOT be memorized. NOW you have something that's actually WORTH doing crazy stuff to make it harder to read. What's the point of making the song harder to read when you can slap on a c-mod and priactice for memorization?

Forced shuffle that changes partway thru the song is the answer.

If C-mods disqualify scores, you can at least use them to practice song with changing tempos, especially Vertex, until you are ready to play it without them and actually gain an audience.

without a doubt. also, looking at any stepchart before ever playing the song is cheating as well.
