US version. Why? Well, here's the breakdown of song differences:
Songs taken out of the Asian version:
Get Your Groove On - Banya
Oy Oy Oy - Banya
All I want for X-Mas - Banya
*Oh Rosa (Spanish ver.) - Banya
*First Love (Spanish ver.) - Banya
Let the Sunshine - Lisa Cool & The South Spirit
Lay it Down - Fresno
Everybody - Carlos T. Quila
On Your Side - Kay Kent
Fiesta Macarena Pt. 1 - DJ Paula
Xi Bom Bom Bom - El Ritmo Tropical
(*I swear that the US versions of these are Korean, but it may be me because the manual calls them the Spanish versions)
And here are the songs added to the US version:
CANON-D - BanYa
Street Showdown - BanYa
Point Break - BanYa
My Way - BanYa
Hatred - Novasonic
We Don't Stop - ASOTO UNION
A Little Less Conversation (Junkie XL Remix) - Elvis
Name of the Game - Crystal Method
Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang
Let's Groove - Earth, Wind, and Fire
Walkie Talkie Man - Steriogram
I Love You Baby - Pandera
There is one extra song than the Asian version and a lot of the songs that weren't really that great (IMO) were taken out and replaced with much better songs (again, IMO).
In addition to these changes, there is also some changed steps (I believe Love is a Danger Zone CZ was completely redone) and one or more added stepcharts (LOVE SONG CZ was added, yay ). Some of the rankings of songs have been fixed to represent them better (Valenti CZ 12 - 9, Dignity CZ 15 - 20).
There are also modes that are not avaliable in the Asian version (Sudden Death, Survival). Also, statistics such as step distances in kilometers have been added as well as the ability to turn off the lifebar in both Arcade and Home.
As for your other question, pertaining to both versions, the game is more or less true to the arcade experience. Some may find it TOO much like the arcade, meaning that you have to input your own Speed Mods through the pad (UL, UR, UL, UR, Center) without a menu (ala DDR). There is, however, an Easy Menu in Home Mode in the US version.
The only pitfall is that the US version has (in my opinion) an unlock system that is borderline insane and will take A LOT of dedication. Several people find the unlock system very annoying. While in the Asian version, every song is ready to play right from the get go in any mode.
In conclusion, buy the US game (in this case you're getting the PS2 version, so you get the extra 4 songs the xbox version is missing), but if you can, buy the Korean pads because the US pads are a bit more flimsly and don't seem to look like they'll last long. (BTW, I've used my Mastiff pad rigorously, and it still works perfectly without a rip or tear, so they're still quality pads!).
All in all, its up to you. And which ever version you choose, have fun. Its a very awesome game with awesome music . Hope you found this helpful.
