Just to start off my name is robert I'm 21 and currently attending a community college in tomball texas to become a vet tech. They had a club day at my college and the music director was sponsoring a music club including ddr 2 hours every tuesday.

I played ddr max 2 for ps2 and fell in love with this game I loved a bunch of the songs. I'm about 5'9" and 250lbs and a little overweight for reference, but none the less I still enjoyed myself. What I want to know is what is a good pad to buy and how much should I pay for one. I tried the crappy pad that came with the system they had at the college I don't like that one I was thinking of getting one of those red octane ignition pads. But what should I pay for one, I saw the red octane one in gamestop for $100 and for $50 including s/h on ebay. also what are good versions of the game to get and how much should I spend on them? alright thanx in advance

I believe this belongs in the Bemani Controllers forum, right?

You're mostly right. You can go to Bemani Controllers to see the main sticky with links to all the different types of pads and check out those threads from that sticky.

However, for the DDR console thing. No, you do not go to that forum and say "OMG. WHAT DDR SHOULD I BUY?" You can go to DDRFreak's vast amount of Songlists for each individual mix and decide for yourself. Everyone is different, so check that out to see what things cater to YOUR tastes.

kthnx.

If he hasn't played DDR other than MAXX 2, how would he know what the songs on each mix sound like to pick a mix. He can' just say "um, that song has a cool name." That won't help. He needs to talk to someone knowledgeable about the game and through conversation find out what would work for him.

IT's still not a place for chit-chat, but I"m just saying...

what would be better buying one of those foam red octane ignition pads for about $100 or buying a metal one for $200. Also I've pretty much heard every song for the ddrmax 2 so I'll stick with that one for now.

On a similar note, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to music sometimes I want to hear bagpipes, sometimes anime songs, robzombie, mudvane, techno, actually I listen to a lot of anime music cause my little bro is always downloading new animes. But you get my drift if you can suggest a ddr with songs with a good beat that would be helpful.

Yes this is in the wrong forum but the smart buttocks remark has been deleted because if I get two more points for pointless posting, I'll be banned. Although this is in the wrong forum, I would recommend DDR Extreme for a beginner. It has lots of licensed songs and most of the songs are easy excluding Drop Out and The Legend Of Max. As for pads, I recommend a cheap soft 20 dollar one. Since you'll probably start on beginner mode, this pad will last a long while. When you move up to heavy, I'd buy a Redoctane Ignition 3.0 pad. It may be expensive but it will not break as quickly as a soft pad might. So in short, DDR Extreme, Soft Pad.
PS: WOOHOOO, I JUST SAVED A BUNCH OF WARN POINTS ON MY DDRFREAK ACCOUNT BY SWITCHING TO NOT BEING A SMARTASS!
LOL

Thank You
~Blair~

That was really stupid, dumb, and not in the least bit witty at all. If you're going to try and think up of a stupid play on words to request a lock for a topic, make it mildly good, at least. Not to mention you didn't even have to request it in that smart-ass way either, seeing as the guy's already been told where it should be. It's fuck heads like you who have to act like a mod all the time that bring sites down.

Anyway, if you really want to get into ddr, and you plan on playing it for awhile, I'd say go for the metal. You'll just end up breaking the other one if you get seriously into DDR. The metal pads are the only really durable ones, and even so, be careful what kinds you get. As others have said, check out the stickies in the Bemani Controllers forum for each dance pad and see what you like best.
