What the hell is up with the whole right arrow left arrow thing in the 'chorus' (music in the sample)? They seem to follow some magic melody or rhythm that apprently neither of my TV's care to sound out for me, or someone got lazy.

What a bunch of bullshit.

the right arrow part is following a very soft rhythm in the background that most people can't hear unless you actually slow the song down. the left arrows shortly after follow the bass drum, and the left+right rhythm after that is both of those two sections combined. Many people dislike the "rhythm challenge" section of the song, but just as many others (myself included) like it quite a lot.

I p[ersonally think that would be the point of Utopias steps. The whole right arrow thing follows the rythym of the song and kind of gives a false hope of the 11 block song being not that hard. then comes the trickiness of the jumps and then the long 1/16th streams. then the same beat with jumps and hold notes. I personally think the expert steps are well done and kind of follow the way of easy in the beginning to harder and trickier near the end.

But just the right arrow...? And you think they could at least make that rhythm more audible. I listen to a lot of/make music myself, yet for some reason that rhythm isn't... practical?

I can't do this song yet, but...

Isn't Utopia's rhythm challenge trying to mix quarter notes for left foot simultaneously with quarter note triplets for the right foot? That's actually a common hand/drumstick exercise for drummers (left hand does 4 while the right hand does 6), but I guess they wanted it done with the feet for ITG... which is, of course, much harder.

Same goes for Sweet World Expert (ITG2), hand drum rhythms done with the feet. Flams done with the hands are actually quite easy to do, but they tried to notate flams using the ITG arrow interface so they could be done with the feet... which, since I also can't effectively use the bar, makes them very difficult to do, bordering on impossible for me since I also can't skip-gallop all that fast.

I've heard that if you want you can just do them as jumps, if you want.

Uh, no, that's Zodiac. Utopia involves much more complicated rhythms than just straight triplets.

Right... Zodiac has this type of timing, albeit on an easier scale. Utopia just follows the rhythms of the song, with a little "jazz" thrown in there in the latter part of that section.

agent709 (orange) :: Although it may seem like a dumb, repetitive step pattern, it's actually quite fun to play, once it's done up to speed and correctly.
