I have a question regarding these rolls.

When you hit them, does each step count as a Fantastic, or is it some sort of separate grading? I think things may be shifted if you score points depending on how many you hit (unless it caps at a certain point) and could seriously screw up competition.

They're graded as if they were holds. The steps starting the rolls are graded as normal, from fantastic down to miss. However, the rest of the roll is either "yeah" or "bad" like a normal hold. If you keep stepping fast enough, you get full credit. If you fail to step quickly enough at any point, the roll goes dark and you get no credit for the roll, though you'll still get normal credit for the initial step.

Thus, in terms of grading, two steps with rolls are no more valuable than two steps with holds.

Which is precisely the reason why I dislike them. It irks me having to spend significant quantities of stamina for what amounts to one or two steps' worth of points. As an extreme example - the long roll in Robotix. If I'm playing a marathon course with Robotix in it, I just step off the roll and get some rest time rather than bother with it ... it's just not worth it. And honestly, if you want someone to mimic with a drum roll, why not just use a sixteenth run (or whatever rhythm floats your boat?)

Wow, those look like bad news. I absolutely hate stuff like that, rapid hitting of the same arrows (usually when it's only one arrow). My legs lock up often on those. And every .3 seconds? That's crazy. I'd like to see a video of someone doing one to see if there's any way I could do them. So long as they keep it with two different arrows doing the roll at the same time I might be fine, but if they ever do it with just one arrow, I'd be absolutely screwed.

And maybe every .3 seconds isn't as bad as it sounds.

every .3 seconds is like a quarternote at 200bpm (pretty slow actually) and they are always used in pairs, so you won't have to worry about doing it with one leg.

Seriously, it's not even fast. It's like quarter notes on Afronova.

So, it's essentially like playing freezes in DDR where you step on and off to hold your freeze (useful for pads that have difficulty registering holds). Not so bad then.

ah so they're like QUARTER notes at 200bpm... I was thinking they're like EIGHTH notes at 200bpm.. while I could deal with eigths, quarters are not threatening at all...

Very few.

There are no freeze rolls on only a single arrow.

quarter notes at 200 bpm sounds too slow to be right...
I'm guessing you need to hit EACH rolling arrow every 0.3s, so each foot would hit that fast. Therefore, you could either do quarternote jumps at 200 bpm or eighth note streams at 200 bpm. Did anybody catch all that? blink.gif

Oh, and I've only played robotix on SM, so there are no freeze rolls. Im assuming the one you're talking about is during the "1337 bpm" section, on the left and right arrows.

ok, let's learn subdivision...

if one foot is moving at q-note=200, and the other foot is moving at the same speed but alternating, then the rhythm you are doing BETWEEN BOTH FEET is eighthnotes at 200. Each foot is only doing quarternotes, but the way they are usually set up, your feet will likely be alternating (I suppose in a few songs you could treat them as quarternote @ 200bpm jumps).

But...can there be? E10.gif Maybe that's how ITG2 has it set up, but could you do it anyway in an edit?

This is true. An edit could have a single 3 -> 2 in one column, so I'll rephrase it.

All current seen/known charts do not have rolls on one arrows, only two.
