Hi Everyone,
RedOctane has a new metal pad in the works!

We'll announce more details about it soon, but to be the first to know
what's going on inside RedOctane (including tidbits of our upcoming PS2
release, In the Groove, and our upcoming product line) subscribe to our
newsletter at http://www.redoctane.com/store.html (look for "Newsletter
Signup").

Right now, though, we're looking for some help in figuring out what we
should name our next metal pad.

Any ideas? Send us your suggestions at metalpadcontest@redoctane.com!

The winner will receive $100 in store credit to use at the RedOctane Online
Store AND the new metal pad when it comes out.

The deadline is Midnight Thursday March 17th.

Good luck!

This is an e-mail I received from RO themselves. So, if you want to score a metal pad from RO, e-mail them right now!

And we all know that EB Games is the be all end all official word on when every game in the universe is coming out, right?
EB Games is just pulling a date out of thin air; they do this all the time. They dislike giving customers a vague timeframe, they'd rather invent a date to seem knowledgeable and give the customers a specific date to wait for. Until a date is announced from Roxor or RedOctane, no other date is correct. EB has been seriously wrong in the past.

Honestly, I'm psyched for this game. Ever since I tried ITG at the arcade, I have to admit, for a DDR "copycat", it's actually pretty good. Even better is the fact that EVERY song from the arcade will be on there and then some. drool.gif

I just don't want to pay $150 for a bundle pack. I already own a RO Ignition 2.0 Dual Platform Edition, and despite the fact the up arrow sticks, it still works all right. I don't need another $100 pad right now. I just hope my other pads will work with the game.

Foyboy, is it? I, um, have a couple of quick questions for you, so check your PMs, if you don't mind. E7.gif

I'm pretty sure what people are looking for is a way to get the game, t-shirt, soundtrack, etc IN A BUNDLE so they don't have to buy them all seperately (which would also probably cost more), and not have to get an ignition pad, which many people already have, which jacks the cost up to way more than most people want to pay.

Quoting Nekura from ITGFreak:

I've just been notified that the In the Groove t-shirts are now being included for those who want the game without the Ignition pad. For those who have already preordered, their orders will be modified to reflect the changes, and each individual will be contacted soon to provide his or her requested shirt size

This means that both pre-order options will include all the extra goodies except for the soundtrack; only the Ignition bundle preorder package will include that one.

Just so you know!

I really can't see ITG taking off as much as DDR did, unless Roxor/Red Octane (whoever would be in charge of it) started up their own Bemani-esque music division. If DDR (and maybe even PIU) were to die off tomorrow, ITG whouldn't have all the songs that must loyal DDR players (at least the ones I hang around with) REALLY care about. Max(insert variation here), Paranoia(insert variation here), and Sakura, just to name a few. I admit, US Extreme wasn't their best (i think they wanted a newer audience since more experienced players already had MAX,MAX2, etc. if not imported, so they put in more recognized pop songs as opposed to Bemani songs to hook them, then show them true potential) but I don't think it will die. Who knows if there will even be an Exteme2 or whatever they'd call it, but THAT would probably feature more good songs because Extreme1 is basically a way to get a "new generation" that is brought in by seeing more familliar stuff on the box.

That only applies to Extreme US CS. In The Groove was created by players that knew the game well, as well as other Bemani and are essentially fans trying to continue the game. DDR is dying and has supposedly already died in Japan. Therefore, there would no point to releasing another arcade mix in Japan as the game is dead there. Therefore, Stateside, we won't be able to see the machine as Konami of America has shut down its arcade division.

In The Groove came about in the midst of all of this to essentially be the new mix of DDR and it has worked out sucessfully for Roxor. Therefore, it wasn't a dumb move for RedOctane to see this as an oppurtune moment and publish In The Groove for the home.

It's a good play of emulation really. They saw how Konami was sucessful with DDR and somewhat - Andamiro with PIU. They emulated this and came out with ITG which seems to be doing sucessful as well.

Damn, RedOctane and Roxor are some good businesspeople. >=P
