Arcade Box TX-2000+: Product Link N/A
MSRP: $199.99 (~$149 on PlayAsia.com and eBay)

This is a 3rd party pad sold on eBay and other small Internet shops. Arcade Box is listed as the manufacturer, but they have no Internet presence, so I'm taking the specs/details from one of the random sellers on eBay:

* Super Heavy Duty, can handle player weight up to 500lbs
* 'Touch Sensitive Technology' excellent response from buttons
* 0% noise level, no noise when jumping on arrows
* You can wear shoes to play on Metal Pad
* Platform will work on carpet or hard floor.
* The entire platform frame is Stainless Steel, will never break or turn rusty.
* Weights about 50 lbs each
* Dimensions: 37 inches x 37 inches 2 inches thick
* Constructed of Stainless Steel, arrows are made of hard acrylic plastic
* All sides and middle are reinforced with Stainless Steel plates.
* Power is taken directly from the Playstation.
* Framed construction keeps the pad stable and adds durability
* Tubular Trick Bar replicates the Arcade Dance Machines
* Cushioned liner on bottom of pad helps protect floors
* Swapable control box (included) allows use into other/future consoles
* Includes Metal Dance Pad and PlayStation 2 / PSOne Control Box (with Start and Select Buttons)
* Some assembly required for use of Trick Bar (Bolts / Washers included)
* Requirements : PlayStation 2 or PSOne Game Console
* This pad is for new dance revolution ddr players and experienced ones.
* Perfect for excercise!

Now, as I was saying, can anyone give this dance pad any credibility? I like it's design a lot better than the others in the TX series, but the TX series is crap apparently... ><' Still.. if it works better than a soft pad, and stuff.. and its cheaper than the other hard pads.. oooer..

I JUST DONT KNOW OK

Now this is a bit tricky.
First: the picture above, as well as the one shown in the previous thread ("What pad is this?") is definitely taken from a TX2000 version 2.0 (or v2).
Several months ago, anyway, a new version was released (v3, or TX2000+) that improved the pad in many ways: it has leds that light up whenever you step on a panel, an added support for the handbar, and a better and more confortable design for the platform and panels.

V3 is the last official version I know of, and the opinions about it seem to be very, very controversial. I can tell you everyone in the UK is praising it as an excellent pad, while everyone in the USA is bashing it and complaining about panels broken after a few days. This is still a mystery to me.

To add to the mystery: lately, on ebay, some sellers have started to sell pads called v4, or even v5. The main difference in the description of these items seems to be an increase in the weight of the pad, and an increase in the weight it can handle (some even talk about panels made of different material, some do not). I suspect, however, that these supposedly newer versions are just a fake, which is confirmed by the fact that any serious online shop (such as lik-sang or play-asia) is still selling v3. Furthermore, I asked some of these ebay sellers for information about the real differences between v3 and these versions, and none of them answered.

So, the bottom line would be: if you live in Europe and you want to save some money, buy a TX2000+ from lik-sang or play-asia. If you live in the USA, a cobalt flux will cost you just a little more, so that should be your favourite option.
In any case, avoid at all costs buying a tx2000 on ebay or from any online shop other than LS or PA.

from what i have heard, this is one of the best pads you can buy. a friend of mine has one of them, and i know from experience that it is virtually flawless. what my friend really likes about this pad is that the trick bar is extremely strong and can take any abuse. I also think it has a great arcade feel to it. the only real flaw in it is that the corner brackets that hold the arrow pad in may be bent if you abuse them too much. still, it is too early for me to tell whether this pad is a safe purchase or not.
and yes, be careful if you plan on using ebay. this pad has been cloned a couple times, but im not sure about the v4 and v5 stuff. still, 200 clams seems like a great deal for this piece.

Jesus christ does your friend enjoy lying to you? I have this pad. It has tons of flaws. The bar is not strong at all. It is very wobbly and comes loose so easily. You can not apply that much preassure to it, it might snap. It does not have an arcade feel to it as it doesn't have lowered arrows. My pad hits triplets (three times with one press) stops working sometimes (during Ultimate 12 Nonstop Heavy on song 8 that REALLY BOTHERS ME) and the back arrow doesn't light up anymore.

I've had it for 4 weeks.

Avoid.

Okay, thanks for your input. I suppose the RO or CF are the only ones to buy. Meh.

They have these pads on playasia.com for 149.99, i don't know how good they are, but i really need a metal pad because my soft one really blows. Is it better to get the 300 for a CF? --whoops CF in the tx2000 :/

Now that I think about it, that's not the TX-2000 that's seen in the first post. The TX-2000 has the same panel style as the TX-1000. The X and O panels are not like what's seen up there.

Hence the plus. TX-2000+.

I assure you, the one my friend has, whick still works fine, and is the real legit thing, is not a piece of crap (i used it myself, so dont bash my friend disgust.gif) . we don't use the bar much , so i can't tell you if thats a real risk or not.
if yours is as crappy as you say it is, i'm willing to bet its not legit or is flawed somehow.
EDIT: also, the one my friend has is V2, so the panels don't light up. if your pad is V3, that might explain the problems.

Yeah for some reason I've been hearing that the ones shipped to Europe are awesome whereas the ones shipped elsewhere are totally crappy.

What's up with that?

This is the "old" version of the pad, just read things of the 'new' version also called TX2000 but without the +.

And what I read here and on other DDR boards, the TX-series are very good in Europe and very bad in the US. But I think it is because many people from the US buy these pads of eBay and I don't think that eBay is the best place to buy a metal pad.
I think US ppl will be good playing on CF's and European ppl will be good playing on TX-series pads..

Well DDRNL is a European website. If you do some searching you can find where they mention the TX2000+ pad. They lead you straight to the manufacturer's website which is here. The TX2000+ pad on Mayflash.com is here.

I could be wrong, and I probably am, but does Ebay deal with other European countries outside of the UK? I mean, I'm guessing that they do, but that it might be somewhat different than the American Ebay. What I'm trying to get at is that perhaps what everyone is saying is right. People are buying crappy clones. I would order one straight from Mayflash, or from one of their affiliates. Two of their affiliates happen to be Lik-Sang and PlayAsia.

So out of deduction and common sense I would think that Europeans are not buying the clones on our Ebay. I could be wrong, and I might be, but I would be willing to try this pad if I bought it straight from Mayflash or from Lik-Sang/PlayAsia. However, I've already ordered my Afterburner.

Also, on Lik-Sang the TX2000+ is down to $119 US and now comes with 4 replacement arrows. So with DDRNL's simple mod guide to improve the TX2000+ and a set of replacement arrows the pad seems like a good deal to me. Should my Afterburner not work out I'll definatley pick one of these up. From a legitimate seller.
