YEAH RIGHT...

Uh, yeah, if you're going to quote that, quote what was before it:

Reading this correctly, I'm trying to say that a DDR machine WILL NOT last as long as PS2 (or any other home game console) without maintenance - quite the opposite, actually.

Amen. If you bought a IIDX machine now, you could probably turn around and sell it for the same price, maybe even a little more. That goes for just about any other Bemani except for maybe the really old mixes of Pop'n or BM.

I said "YEAH RIGHT!" because my PS2 has broken. And so have apparently a lot of other people's also. The later versions of the PS2, at least, have really small life spans as they are quite cheaply made. Maybe I'm biased; I've had a really bad experience.

GF is less maintenance than DM, and usually much cheaper. I'd recommend 6th Mix. Stay away from 7th. KBM probably isn't too bad in terms of hardware reliability, but the PS2 controllers are honestly better than the arcade ones. If you want KBM, just drop a couple hundred for a controller and both home releases, and you'll have all the songs for about a thousand less.

stay AWAY from Percussion Freaks!! Although it is as high mantenece as Drummania, seeing since PF is just the asian counterpart of Drummania, PF Is missing songs, E-READER capabilities and The Session Hub! If you buy a PF, you cannot connect it to a guitar-freaks, and you cannot upgrade it to a drummania because it needs the session hub.

Seeing as he only has enough money to buy one game, I'm doubting that he cares about session mode.

PF still has stellar songlists (at least 7 and up do). I don't know about 6, but PF 8 has a great songlist as far as I've played.

There are rumors going around that PF has hardware that is more crash-prone, but if you have a supplier that's always willing to fix things, this shouldn't be a problem.

Nope it isn't missing any at all. This isn't like DDR where 3rd Mix asian doesn't have Xanadu while the jap ver has. No, this is different. DM = PF
(EXCEPT KOREAN VERSION). PF is also capable of E-amusement reader as shown on lots of PF 9th Mix machines in Hong Kong. It is also capable of sessioning but it doesn't use/need a session hub to link to Guitar Freaks. Although, what you said about PF upgrading to DM and requiring the session hub is true for all DM machines need session drives while for PF machines, it's optional which means it can run with or without it. And one last thing, PF has never had any missing songs from 1st to 10th which means it's the same as it's japanese counterpart.

you could also buy the yamaha keyboard with keyboard mania fro the PC in USA, but im not sure how the song list stacks up to the japan version.

I think it only comes with 20 songs (though you can add MIDIs). I say if you're a KBM fan, the PS2 releases are the way to go.

Long stories can be fun.

But as for GF...once again, 7th mix is =/ There has GOT to be a better mix (ie almost any other mix) around you. I mean, if it comes down to it, 7th is better then nothing. But if you assume this is a mix you are going to be playing OFTEN, then you'll get bored of 7th mix songs quick, I think.

GF6th and 8th have the most variety and best song selections for long-term play, I think. Though GF5th ain't bad either.

ok ill tell you guys the long story...

OK i used to live in virginia. Now california. My parents said we ae getting a pool and a half pipe. Turns out you cant have a half pipe any higher than 6 feet where i live frown.gif So i started saying they would have 2 dig into the ground than build a 8-9 foot half pipe. So my parents said screw it and just get a bemani machine.

So here i am...so gf or dm?
