For those of you who don't know, Cobalt Flux pads are the highest quality metal pads available to the general public. Unfortunately, high quality comes at a high price. The good news is that they are having a holiday sale for their pads. Single platforms are now available for $279.99, and doubles for $569.99.

I must say that I love my cobalt flux, I've had them for two months now and there is no wear visible and it doesn't look as though they are gonna break down soon. Also I heard from them that they are working on XBOX adapters for them so you don't have to buy cheap a$$ converters from some 3rd party chinese company you've never heard of.

plus I got the first post

Geez, man! Such a high price! I wonder what the warranty on those things are- and they sure don't look too travel friendly...
Then again, two monthe (in response to earlier post) is not that long. I've had my two Topway pads for two YEARS now and they're still going fine. (Though I think that one of 'em is on the verge of death)

No, they're not meant to be travel friendly--they're meant to be sturdy and stiff. Sure, if you want high portability, go with any of the non-ignition soft pads. If you want a little less portability but more accuracy, ignition pad is the way to go. For the most arcade-like quality, CF pads are the closest thing without actually buying a machine or building your own platform.

I agree that 2 months is not a long time, though.

I was skeptical of them when I first heard about their pads, but they seem to have proven themselves.

Hey I was wondering, I've heard MANY excellent things about the Cobalt Flux pad and I have a question, is this the same pad that's in the arcade with additional buttons? If it is, then can you buy a bar for it? If it isn't, then does anyone know where you could buy a pad like one in the arcade? I know it's a lot to ask for in my first post...but this is a lot of money and I want to know before I make an investment like this.

Thank you very much for all the help!

Ok... well first yes the CF pad is amazing but it is not nearly the same as the arcade. its buttons dont go down like the arcade pad, and they do not light up either. However, this pad is still amazingly good. The sensitivity is incredible, you could put a cat on top of it and it would register. Currently, CF is not selling bars, but they have stated that soon they will, once they can get a modle that doesnt cost much. Personally, this is the closest Metal pad you can get to the arcade when judging by looks, and it will last a very very long time. The warrent is 10x as good as ROs, and even though its cheaper, the design is cooler, it registers more and uses sheet metal instead of cheap aluminum. Hope that helps...

Now just have to wait until christmas to get mine E1.gif only 6 weeks...

Why do you have to pay $290 for a second pad, rather than $279.99?

The doubles kit comes with a metal connector "bar" that keeps the two pads together and at the exact distance the arcade uses.

Have any of you ever had a problem with hitting the Start and Select buttons while playing, and reseting the game? Besides the price, it would be the only reason I would not buy a CF pad.

The start and "select" buttons only register if you step on the very back of the pad, so you'd have to be really clumsy to do so. Plus, they mapped the "select" button to the triangle to avoid that very resetting problem.

I have a CF, I love it. Got it in late July/early August, still under warranty (six months). Good enough for just 2 Greats on A Stupid Barber Heavy. I will be getting a second one and the doubles bar to hook two pads together... someday. Just bought a new house, though, so it may be a little while.

God knows how many times I've had people reset the game when they stand on the bottom of the Ignition Pads (even though there's supposed to be no censors there). But yeah, I saw the video's on the CF and did some research (looked at forums). If I wasn't planning on getting my own machine when I move back to the states I'd get CF pads.

*Sigh* if they only accepted monthly payments, I go for it in a heartbeat. I don't have 290-600 to buy these pads. Why? Cause I'm poor, and I'm supportin myself independantly. Next thing, you know it I'm movin out and providing food, clothing, and school. I also pay for my own car insurance too. So if they accepted monthly payments, I would go for it.

You're off to a good start E13.gif (this won't make sense after the 2x post gets deleted)

As they said, this is as close as you're gonna get to the real pad without building your own or backing your pickup up to the arcade and getting 6 football players to load it up and drive off with one (I've been planning this for a while...). If you play at home, you'll get used to hair trigger sensitivity and won't be as good in the arcades because in most cases they aren't very well maintained (even if they are, nothing can compensate for the 1000x more use those pads get than yours will). Maybe you could get a job at an arcade

CF is actually often times **better** than the average arcade pad. They also have the best costomer service from what i have seen(MYMYBOX, RO, Buyn' Shop). And the 6 month warrenty makes it even better to chose from compared to all of the other pads with 60-90 day warrentys.

I like how with CF pads, in your shoes, you can't feel where the buttons are (which causes me to slowly move down until I actually step off the pad unwittingly) with shoes on, and with socks on, you slide like crazy, and can't balance properly because of this (and you can barely even feel where the buttons are still).

Seriously, one cobalt flux pad=how many levelsix.com ignition-style pads? Those work fine, and just get a plastic cover and you can keep reusing it.

Used a friend's CF pad, not thrilled. Think I'll stick with good old levelsix pads E13.gif
