I'll throw in my 2 cents:
1: Backgrounds. Nice of KOA to pool all the FMVs from MAX, MAX2, and Extreme, but why did they change the BGs on the songs? Paranoia Eternal's BG was obviously changed. I don't see why did it but ok.
2: Music. Why didn't the demo play any of the New KOs/Cross-overs?
3: Interface. Wow. Here's hoping KOA starts making new interfaces for the upcoming PS2 mixes.
4: New Announcer. I know we don't have much to go on, but is the metallic reverb necessary?
5: Dancing Characters. The new Lady really likes to shake her booty. Could become distracting. I don't really care much for the weird filtering stuff they pull off. Hopefully, more familiar and new dancing characters will be downloadable. |

Will you know if your online opponents are using dance pads or controllers? _________________

Why not just ask them what they're using? |

Two quick XBox live answers -
A - WTF cares? Xbox lives high scores are going to be all AAAs anyhow.
B - No. Too many PSX pads that won't identify themselves out there. No way to know what controller the other person is using. |

Yes they are... but did you think about adapters? The adapter will identify itself but the controller hooked to it - will not. Booyah grandma! |

Wait a second, who said anything about a pad having to identify itself as a pad?
Does anyone remember that option in other DDR's that turns off the X, O, [] and Triangle buttons? I forgot what it is called, but a similar option that turns off the colored buttons would seem to make the most sense, because face it, playing a controller with just a d-pad would just be hella hard, if not impossible. Just select pad or controller from the options menu.
Also, has KoA said that modifiers are going to be in the mix? 1.5x? Solo? Is it implied that they will be in? I don't see why they wouldn't put them in, but hey, you never know... |

It's unknown if those songs by "Thuggie D" are rap songs. _________________

This is unlike Versus in the normal Game Mode where players can choose their own difficulty. | No 4 people on different difficulties. Sadness, I don't have four friends who can play the same difficulty (except light). | That's only for Battle Mode. In Versus Mode on Live or offline, you'll still be able to pick individual difficulties.
Nobody knows the details about how pad/controller identifying works, only that it exists, and apparently works.
Mods are unknown at this point. 3rd Mix and higher have had mods (I don't remember if 2nd Mix did) available one way or the other, so I wouldn't count mods being totally gone. _________________

Something else I noticed when watching.
Battle Mode was on during Gradiusic Cyber. Notice how the number went lower and lower with each step that wasn't perfect?
Now if I hear anymore complaints about Point Attack being too easy, I'm gonna cry. Because that should be proof enough that you can actually make it as hard or as easy as you like. So unless you can SDG a lot of songs, it can actually be fun.
EDIT: I partially retract that statement. From the looks of it, both players were losing points from a variety of things ... and it seems like sometimes they lost a point from a Great, but then they didn't lose points other times for it.
Maybe it goes by a steo comparison. If your opponent gets a Perfect on a particular step, you need to match that. Or if they get a Great, you need to match that or do better ... and then they lose a point. _________________

If I remember correctly, OoC confirmed that mods were in the game back in the middle of the the official Ultramix thread. He said something to the effect of "How does 8x Stealth sound?", or something like that. Forgive me, I'm paraphrasing.
And to clear it up, mods were in the game since the very beginning of the series. You had to enter elaborate codes to get them, but they were there. _________________

PS2 doesn't have anything to match this online play. My gamertag is AmFm, so look for me on the rankings, because I'm going to be attacking those like mad, talk about some incentive to improve. I remember how proud I felt going from 14,000th place to 12,000th after one good lap in MotoGP2, it'll be awesome to see the fruits of your labor as you improve in a DDR game.
I'll probably still go back to DDR:MAX for Max300 once in a while, and maybe Konamix for Drop Out, but I'm sure it's safe to say that my XboxLive account will be seeing plenty of action. _________________

4 player would be nice for the DDR club I'm trying to start at school. But I don't have an X-box and the song selection is pathetic. But if the 9 unlockables look like this:
Healing Vision Angelic Mix
Paranioa Survivor
Freckles
B4U
Cartoon Heroes
A
The Least 100 Seconds
Across the Nightmare
Dynamite Rave
and not like this:
Let them Move
Get on the Move
Smoke
Silent Hill (screams with the agony of a thousand tortured souls)
Happy Wedding
Put your Faith in me
Jam and Marmalade
Have you never been mellow
Remember You
then I'll be the first to drop $200 for a XBox and this game.
I'll also wait to see how those downloadable songs come out... _________________

The characters look hella awsome. Konami is getting better. I also love how they have NEW motion captured moves. It also looks like they have more joints in them. Also that whole effect thing, makes it like semi music videos.
The Music Videos look as though they are running a high quality.
It was good for konami to redo the FMVs for the songs to make them better fit.
I am already liking this game by view the images and the movie. I hope its gonna be really good. |
