Konami Of Japan has launched a web page marking the official announcement of DDR Extreme for the Japanese Playstation 2. A release date is set for October 9th, 2003 with an MSRP of 6,800 yen.
No further official details are available at this time, and no US version has been announced. Thanks to MC_Tome for the link.

*sigh of relief*
There was a lot of speculation as to whether or not a console version would be made, but I'm very relieved that there is. Hopefully a US version will follow (I would certainly expect that, given that the US console versions sell better than the Japanese ones).
Also crossing my fingers for an announcement of an arcade 9th Mix. |

| This fall will definitally be full of DDR goodness, with Max2 USA, Ultramix, and DDR Extreme JP coming out. April to October isn't that short of time, 6 months, isn't that the usual time frame for releases? |

Well looks like Fall of '03 is gonna be great. Not will DDRMAX2 USA be released but DDR Extreme JP. I thought it would take until spring of next year for Extreme to be released and i'm glad i'm wrong, I hope the song list is good as long as the Nonstops and Oni's, although i heard a rumor over a 100 songs would be in it, sounds impossible but hey you never know.

Do u remember the period between MAX and MAX 2? It's usually 1 year between usual games anyway.
I think this year is the year of the DDR, haha. First there was DDR MAX 2, then DS Megamix, then DDR MAX 2 USA, then DDR Ultramix, then now there's DDR Extreme. Five DDR games in a year, I dun think any game can top it up.
I was actually expecting DDR Extreme to be at the second half of next year to never.

yah , i just got this from http://www.gameroom.com/tfad/
it says that DDREXTREME2 coming soon but the name will be changed.
but i dont know if its true or not i dont know. every time a home version of ddr comes out, they make another mix at the arcade. now back to the topic dude.
DDREXTREME will cost how much in USA money?

I was one of the people yelling the loudest that Extreme for PS2 would probably never come out, citing the dismal sales figures for DDRMAX2 as proof.
I can honestly say I'm quite happy to eat my words.
I guess this means anything is possible. I'm still not expecting a new arcade version, but I suppose I won't refuse to believe in one now.
Oh, and I strongly encourage everyone importing Extreme (as I will be) to order at least one older version along with it (as I will be), to thank Konami of Japan for really giving it up for the fans. DDRMAX2 for PS2 sold really poorly, and it's very obvious that they're not caring too much about making a huge profit here. This was for us. Thanks, you guys...

Actually, right now, $1 is about 118.05¥. Which means 6,800¥ comes out to about US $57.60. I would expect it to be priced what DDRMAX was priced in the US, though, and what the expected price for DDRMAX2 is, as well ($39.99). |

I..I knew that ... What was the price for DDRMAX US...Because I got it as a gift... Was it $57?
