Oh, god, no. Don't get anything newer than GF6/DM5. Those two were the best, and everything else after that has absolutely horrible song lists. I would rather have GF 4th than GF 7th.

While I agree that the songlists become lacking in the newer versions, GF7th/DM6th still had some good new songs, I thought-Jet Coaster Girl, Smile for You (my favorite Fusion song from Furukawa Motoaki, guy that did Captain's Voyage), One Phrase Blues, Concertino in Blue, Double Trouble (which is just a fun, albeit crazy, song). As for the Bonus Tracks, it has Departure, and Bring Back (awesome Hard Funk), and Potpurri d' orange (for all your orange lounge nostalgia), and best of all, Riff Riff Orbit, which covers both Double Orbit and L.A. Rider, easily. I admit that the songlist for 9th and 8th ain't the best thing, in part because it takes away alot of the songs that were actually classics and were in the GF/DM mixes up to GF8th/DM7th for the most part. I was really sorely disappointed that they took so many out, but GF7th/DM6th and GF8th/DM7th still had a good enough amount of classic songs, as well as the bonus track remixes-GF9th/DM8th has gone a little far, but I think Konami will fix that in either a possible power-up version or with the card system it currently has.
But, basically I suggested something around GF6th/DM5th in the end anyways, so...read my whole post next time? I have a tendency to arrive to different conclusions by the end of my comments then I originally stated-anyways...
Yes, GF6th/DM5th works best, I'd say.

EDIT 2: Woah! On further look into the prices, GF/DM seems out of your budget. The only one that really works is Drummania 1st, and I say 'hohum' to that. Ah well.^_^;;; |

I was trying to clarify that GF 7th-9th suck overall, which you hadn't done originally. We have to prevent people from buying crappy mixes. Heh.
And you can get a GF 2nd for only a few grand, but the merit of doing so is debatable. Unless you get a DM 1st and link the two, which would be quite neat.

If DDR does well in the arcade you might want to consider getting a Solo Mix of the game. They go for about $3,000 and it is still DDR. Check out www.channelbeat.com for info, they are having a sale on the Solo Machines.
I read somewhere that PPP is actually quite popular in Texas so you might want to get that instead, but ask around first. This was just something I read in the forums. |
