i just got the para para paradise game for stepmania but it wont work it says this...

Theme metric 'ScreenSelectMode : Choices' could not be found in 'Themes/para/metrics.ini' or 'Themes/default/metrics.ini'.

does anybody know what to do?

PPP support only works on 3.0 final. Frieza hasn't updated the support for the CVS versions.
