|
|
My dad was thinking of taking me and my family on a cruise for a vacation and while I'm not going to have him completely base his decision on which cruise line based on this, I know that some ships have arcades and I'd like to know how to find out if any of them have DDR. I would use machine locations, but quite frankly I'm not entirely sure how to look, I mean should I look under the area of the world the ship is going around or something? |

The arcades on ships are generally low budget. _________________

A DDR machine on a cruise ship would be interesting...
Get a little rocking action going, do a jump, and land off the pad... heh...

Yeah definitely low budget...I dont think cruises have placements to make a whole arcade on a love boat! But before you know it, you'll see someone busting out Dynamite Rave on Ship Mates!
OMG I WOULD FREAKING DIE OF LAUGHTER IF I SAW THAT! _________________

a cruise ship probably wouldnt have ddr cause of insurance reasons. if the boats rockin back and forth and sum1 falls the person could sue the cruise line and the they dont want that...
even if they did it wouldnt b free cause the last cruise i went on they had an arcade with like 6 games in it and u had 2 pay for everything |

Actually there are several listed in the locations on this site. Look under the "other" category. |

Do cruise ships really rock back and forth that much? I mean, arn't they kinda designed massive and all so that they don't move back and forth that much? I mean people sit in bars on them, people swim in swimming pools on them ect, if they rocked back and forth enough where it would alter how you play DDR, IE falling off the pad because of it, I wouldn't think you could do much else on the freaking ship other than sit in your cabin and be ship. |

Would playing DDR on a cruise ship increase your chances of motion sickness?
I would bring a laptop, Stepmania, and pads! |

ive been on 3, and the last 1 i was on, half the boat got sea sick the second day. i guess if your on the cruise at the rite time it wont rock the whole time, but then if its stormy, its pointless to have a ddr machine while the boat is rockin back and forth. i remember eating breakfast inside and watchin the front of the ship go up and down....horizon....sky...horizon...sky....i just dont think it would b practicle on a cruis thats crossin the ocean or sailin in the ocean.
if its in a closed port or sumthin, then i think it would b ok.... |

It all depends on what Kind of cruise you go on. I have been on two, they were CARNIVAL ELATION and CARNIVAL ECSTACY. Neither of them had DDR, but they had a skate boarding and skiing game. I played them, and I didnt really get thrown off or felt any movement. The ships have giant stableizers on the bottom, and I am usually likely to get Motion Sickness (like on rollercoasters) but I did not get sick once. You get used to it rather quickly. Hope the cruise does have DDR, because if you are a youth (age 14-17) There isnt really much to do during the day except pig out. HAVE FUN!! |

there are ddr machines on crusie ships..only royal caribbean though. it even says so on this site under locations.
I'm going on a cruise this summer that has a 3rd plus...not too bad. It's like $1.25 for 3 CREDITS (not songs) , so I'll be keepin sharp. Thats only if the pads aren't complete shit
but i hope that answers you're question |

Don't anyone consider it sad that you would want to play DDR when you're on a cruise? _________________

Hey you've been on Ecstacy too? Did you buy one of those bears that said "I love Ecstacy" on it? _________________

Yeah I have to agree. Fun is fun, if that includes DDR so be it. I mean not like you can play DDR constantly anyway. Its just one more thing to do no the cruise while you enjoy the relaxing time.
To respond to everyone else, thanks I really had no idea. I've never been on a cruise, only made the assumtion that they would do everything possible to stop the thing from making people motion sick. I guess in some cases, I was wrong. Damn cheep cruise boats. |

actually it seems that lately for the most part I've been playing arcade DDR on vacation and not so much at the local arcades. Like the first 7th and EX i've played on were when i went to cali and arizona respectively. For some reason, when I go on vacation I've been able to find many good deals to play DDR cheaply. For instance in Disney, some places within the parks or the Disneyquest have DDR on freeplay although the cost is in admission probably, and in Arizona one place was only 50 cents for a credit instead of $1 and the other had all the games of freeplay on friday night and saturday morning for the cover charge of $7 and for $2 more you could get a slice of pizza and a medium soda. plus, DDR is fun, and when I go on vacation I want to have fun so if DDR is involved that's cool too. |
