I've dealt with RedOctane twice now and it doesn't seem like they are the most gracious of companies.

When I bought my Ignition pads they decided to send me only one case. Well, that doesn't work for two pads and the 6 pieces of foam insert. Believe me, I tried. They did send me another case after a little bit of work. That wasn't really a big deal.

A few weeks ago I ran a DDR tournament at a small anime/gaming con in Vermot (Next to New York). RedOctane said to the con administrators (who really know nothing about DDR), that they had sent two $50 pads as competition pads, and two $100 pads for prizes. Well, that's not what was in the box. They were four flat pads. I think 2 were arcade size and 2 were regular. Regardless, one set was a bit 'fuzzy' (the down button of one pad had ? and D mapped to it, the ? button had nothing mapped to it).

I don't know about the other set because the con administrators didn't want to open the prize pads and check them because it would make it look the con's fault instead of RedOctane's in the case that those pads didn't work either.

What kind of experiences have other people had with RedOctane? Good/Bad?

ive actually had good except when redoctane was 3 weeks off the deadline. my complaint is on the pad quality though.

the four corner buttons on the igniton 2.0 are also arrows. many time i would get non perfect/great steps because my foot would slightly touch the corner buttons. redoctane should make it so they dont work during songs.

All pads do that unless you goto the DDR option menu and goto settings and turn the controller settings to off.

Sure it does... go into the options screen, and I think it's under controller options, something like button presses during gameplay or something like that.

During RedOctanes DDRMAX holiday drawing where the winners would pick between Ignition Pad or DDRMAX, I was the first winner E15.gif and recieved my pad with no fuss or anything. It worked fine and still does. Friends of mine rent DVDs through RedOctane too and got no problem. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Me = Anti-Redoctane. They "sponsored" my 1st tourney and i wrote an email asking what prizes they would be sending. the email i got back stated: I was to get t-shirts and "Red Octane Hardpads" (yes they used the word hardpad) anywho i get the stuff a day before the tourney and it ends up being those crappy pads that are impossible to play on that werent even red octane name brand. I emailed them back and they said "I did not say they were hardpads, we do not send hardpads" I then said listen <explicitly edited by me> here's the <again edited> email you sent me (so i sent the email message back) and as i expected i got no reply from them.

In conclusion, Red Octane is the devil and they must be destroyed

Not quite. It's actually kinda dumb how Max USA is set up on the buttons. It's compleatly not labeled in a direct way. It's the option under vibration. Go in there and turn those options off... Defintly could have been labeled louder.

I'm gettin good vibes from them, they aren't that bad in the video game rental department for me.

but the only bad thing i've heard of from red octane, was a year ago. we had a tournament down here.

We never got our prizes for the tournament, and when we did..they we're really shitty pads.

Control Settings: Dance Play Settings: Controller 1 (ON/OFF)

is definitly the most obvious of names for an option. I suppose if you are looking at the bottom then you'll see it, but if I'm looking for an option I might not actually look at the bottom of the screen, instead I may focus on the menus in front of me. Just good programming practice to make sure it's obvious and intuitive, in this case it's not.
